ROLE
This role is an entry level position with our company and provides an excellent opportunity to grow your knowledge and gain practical experience working with high performance buildings. Our commissioning team works on projects pursuing green building certifications and higher performance targets such as LEED, Well, Fitwel, EnergyStar Multifamily, Toronto Green Standard Tier 2/3/4, CaGBC Zero Carbon Building, and Passive House.
The Commissioning Project Coordinator helps to ensure that a building’s mechanical and electrical systems are designed, installed, and operated properly. The commissioned equipment includes major building systems such as heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment (HVAC&R), domestic water systems, energy and water sub-meters, renewable energy systems, electrical systems and other building equipment as per project’s requirement. The commissioning team works with the owner, architects, engineers, construction trades and building management team to ensure that the building meets its original design objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Work on multiple concurrent commissioning projects that are in various stages of design, construction and warranty periods.

Complete project tasks effectively within budget, schedule, and scope of work.

Responsible for producing accurate and concise written work submitted to the client.
Design Stage

Develop and issue report summarizing the Owner’s Project Requirements.

Review basis of design / design drawings and coordinate with engineers / developer to ensure Owner’s project requirements are incorporated prior to completion of construction documentation.

Review other design stage documents to ensure they meet the operational and energy efficiency goals of the project.
Construction Stage

Review contractor shop drawings for accuracy and consistency with the Owner’s overall intent.

Perform site inspections to verify the installation and functionality of mechanical/electrical building systems in large multiunit residential, mixed-use, and commercial buildings.

Participate in commissioning meetings and interface with the project associated contractors as necessary in order to complete project requirements.

Attend site meetings with trades to review construction process and discuss issues related to building systems.

Perform and/or witness equipment start-up and various pre-functional/functional testing of building systems.

Perform operational functional testing/verification of commissioned equipment.

Diagnose and report on operational issues related to building systems. Create and periodically update issue logs to ensure outstanding issues are resolved and corrected.

Review building system training program and witness and video recording training sessions for commissioned equipment as required.

Assist with other commissioning activities and prepare commissioning documentation as assigned by the team manager.
REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering, diploma engineering/construction technology, or a closely related field.

1-3 year of experience in building commissioning, HVAC design, controls or a closely related field is preferred. Coop experience or related academic work experience is acceptable.

Pursuing professional designation such as P.Eng or CET is preferred.

Proficiency with construction drawings and specifications.

Valid driver's license and personal vehicle is a requirement. This position will require travel within GTA.

Computer literacy with Microsoft Office Suite.
