We are currently looking for a Manager, Financial Reporting to join our Financial Reporting team on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Interim Director, Financial Reporting, you will be a key contributor in the timely and accurate delivery of Emera’s MD&A and Financial Statements and other internal and external reporting requirements on an annual and quarterly basis.
Key Elements of the Role:

Responsibility for the planning of and timely and accurate completion of Emera’s consolidated quarterly and annual MD&A and Financial Statements in a multi-jurisdictional, publicly traded reporting environment under USGAAP;

Ensure internal controls over financial reporting for which you are responsible to support, perform, review, or sign-off, are executed in accordance with the Company's SOX program;

Leading disclosure research projects and drafting new disclosure initiatives;

Review and contribution to other external reports with financial disclosures prepared outside of the Finance group, including Investor Relations materials, Annual Information Form, Annual Report, Sustainability Report, Management Information Circular, and any securities or prospectus filings;

Support the preparation and review of various Audit Committee and Disclosure Committee reports and presentations;

Administration of the financial reporting software; and
-
Responsibility for the timely and accurate completion of the annual XBRL reporting requirements, including coordinating with external consultants.
These skills will make you successful:
As the ideal candidate, you will have a successful track record and experience in financial reporting techniques and processes and demonstrate a strong ability to communicate financial information in a clear and concise manner to various stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be a CPA or equivalent, have a post-secondary degree in a relevant field, and have at least 5+ years of progressive experience in a relevant financial reporting function. Other skills and capabilities include:

Experience in drafting and reviewing MD&A and Financial Statement disclosures;
- Understanding of disclosure requirements for MD&A and Financial Statements (preferably under US GAAP and in compliance with CSA, knowledge of SEC disclosure requirements considered an asset);
- Excellent understanding of accounting policies and standards, consolidation processes, and an in-depth ability to understand financial statements;

Strong business and financial acumen, problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills;

Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, presenting findings to senior management, and explaining complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders;

Experience working in, or auditing, a public company; and

High level of accuracy and attention to detail, while working under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
The Manager, Financial Reporting, will uphold the highest standards of discretion and confidentiality and exercise good judgment daily. Experience working with the energy sector would be considered an asset, as would an in-depth understanding of US GAAP and public company reporting.
