Finance Specialist
In-Office, Full-Time

Key Responsibilities

As the Finance Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring the financial integrity, accountability, and operational efficiency of the organization while supporting strategic decision-making.

Financial Operations & Reporting

Oversee full-cycle accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
Prepare monthly financial statements, perform account reconciliations, and lead period-end and year-end closing processes.
Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards, policies, and procedures.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis

Collaborate with leadership to develop budgets, forecasts, and financial plans aligned with organizational goals.
Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, providing insights to support decision-making.
Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership and executive stakeholders.

Audit & Compliance

Ensure all financial records and systems are audit-ready and aligned with regulatory and reporting requirements.
Coordinate external audits by preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and supporting auditors throughout the process.
Uphold strong internal controls and financial governance practices to safeguard organizational assets.

Leadership & Team Development

Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance management to finance team members, fostering growth and accountability.
Support recruitment, onboarding, and training while establishing clear work plans and expectations.
Promote a collaborative and high-performing team environment aligned with organizational values.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

Work closely with internal departments, leadership, and external partners to support financial planning and reporting needs.
Build strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment on financial matters.
Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and cultural awareness in all interactions and decision-making processes.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates should demonstrate:

Education & Experience:

Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting or finance.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership role.
CPA designation not required.

Technical Skills:

Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and audit processes.
Proficiency in accounting systems such as SAGE 300 (ACCPAC) and advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
Familiarity with financial regulations, compliance standards, and best practices.

Key Competencies:

Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Effective leadership and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and team-oriented approach.
Cultural awareness and sensitivity, with the ability to work respectfully within diverse communities.
