PWO Canada is a Tier 1 and Tier 2 supplier for auto manufacturers globally. We are one of five subsidiaries in the PWO AG Group, manufacturing lightweight metal components for the automotive industry.
Purpose of the Position
The purpose of the position of Industrial Electrician is to maintain, repair, and improve the production cells on existing equipment as well as install components on new equipment.
Nature and Scope of the Position
The position is responsible for supporting production machines and production lines. Incumbents may be called to correct robotic weld issues, stamping press electrical problems as well all assembly line issues. Incumbents may interface with Production, Quality Management and Tooling departments and will use their skills to resolve the problems presented. The position will be supported with internal and external training and encouraged to grow within PWO Canada and will be encouraged to develop relationships with vendors and complete various independent projects.
The incumbent must provide their own personal tools, all large items or special items will be provided by PWO Canada Inc.
When assigned as Plant Designate, the incumbent will act as the single point of contact, physically present at the plant during off-shifts or when no member of management (Supervisor or above) is on-site. During such times, the incumbent will function as the Acting Supervisor for the facility for the designated shift.
Qualifications
Education:
- Completion of an Ontario Certificate of Qualification (309A and/or 442A) as an Electrician is required.
- Certificate in Programmable Logic Control is an asset.
Knowledge and Skills:
- strong mechanical aptitude, good dexterity, and a high attention to detail.
- Service‑oriented and performance‑driven, with a strong sense of urgency and ownership.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills are essential, along with tenacity and persistence.
- Knowledge of Allen‑Bradley and Siemens PLCs, including programming, data collection, and troubleshooting
Communication Skills:
- Strong oral and written communication skills are required for normal technical/business communication.
Nature and Length of Experience:
- At least one years of experience in a similar position in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
- Must have proven leadership skills.
Responsibilities
- Maintains and repair robotic weld cells and electrical systems within the building and on equipment as requested or by issued work orders.
- Safely troubleshoot various automotive stamping and production equipment
- Troubleshoot VFD, Servomotors and Network Communication devices
- Maintain and routinely monitor all mechanical and electrical equipment (preventative and predictive maintenance)
- Repair, troubleshoot and install machinery, control systems and automation
- Devises innovative ways of improving existing robotics and other machinery.
- Sources replacement parts through electrical suppliers as required.
- Efficient use of electronic data collection equipment.
- Performs all duties within the 5S standards.
- Ensures work completed complies with the appropriate and applicable standards.
- Follows and performs to the instructions as outlined in the Work Area Reference Manual(s) applications to the department.
- Follows and performs to the processes and instructions as outlined in the Process House applicable to the department.
- Compliance to all company HR policies and procedures.
- Responsible for working safely, complying with safety policies and procedures, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) required in the designated areas as per company policy.
- Responsible for working safely and keeping a safe work area for themselves and fellow employees. Reporting any unsafe working conditions, practices, and work-related injuries immediately to his/her Supervisor or Manager.
When assigned as Plant Designate, in addition to the above:
- Serves as the primary on-site point of contact for emergency services (Police, Fire, Ambulance, etc.) and external visitors during assigned shift.
- Acts as the point of contact for employees on the assigned shift, addressing attendance matters, employee relations concerns, and other time-critical issues that cannot be deferred to the next available Supervisor or Manager.
- Leads the assigned shift in accordance with established policies and practices, including holding required meetings, performing audits and inspections, and submitting end-of-shift reports as required.
- Escalates and communicates time-sensitive issues to management in accordance with established escalation procedures.
- First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) and completion of all required Plant Designate training.
Any other job-related and Plant Designate duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Supervisor, Manager, and/or Director.
