Sales Manager, Building Materials and Engineered Wood Products

Location: Balzac, AB with responsibility for Edmonton, Northern Alberta, and Southern Alberta markets
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Our client is a newly established and well capitalized manufacturer in the lumber, truss, and engineered wood products space, building out operations in the Balzac area. With a strong leadership team and a clear growth plan, the organization is focused on becoming a key supplier to residential and multi family construction across Alberta.

They are seeking a Sales Manager to lead and grow both the Edmonton and Southern Alberta markets, build strong relationships across the builder and contractor network, and drive revenue in a highly competitive and relationship driven environment.

The Opportunity

This is a foundational role within a growing organization. The Sales Manager will be responsible for developing the go to market strategy across Alberta, building out a high performing sales presence over time, and establishing the company as a trusted partner to builders, framers, and developers.
This role will suit someone who understands both the Edmonton and Southern Alberta markets, has strong relationships within the home building community, and is comfortable both leading and selling.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Leadership and Strategy

Develop and execute the sales strategy across Edmonton, Northern Alberta, and Southern Alberta
Establish pricing strategies, target accounts, and growth plans aligned with company objectives
Support the build out of a sales team across regions as the business scales
Track performance, pipeline, and key sales metrics

Business Development

Actively pursue new business with residential builders, multi family developers, and framing contractors across Alberta
Leverage existing relationships to generate immediate opportunities
Identify and secure key accounts across both Northern and Southern Alberta
Position the company as a preferred supplier through service, reliability, and expertise

Customer Relationship Management

Build and maintain strong relationships with builders, project managers, and procurement teams
Understand customer needs and align internal teams to deliver on expectations
Support clients through the full project lifecycle from quoting to delivery

Cross Functional Collaboration

Work closely with design, production, and purchasing to ensure alignment on timelines, pricing, and capacity
Support estimating and quoting processes with accurate information and clear communication
Provide market feedback to leadership to support pricing, product, and operational decisions

Market Intelligence and Growth

Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and pricing dynamics across Alberta
Identify opportunities for product expansion, service improvements, and market penetration
Support long term growth strategy across both Northern and Southern regions

Health and Safety and Compliance

Promote a strong safety culture in all customer interactions and job site engagement
Ensure alignment with company and customer safety standards when working on site
Support adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements within the construction environment

Who They’re Looking For

7 to 15 plus years of sales experience within lumber, building materials, truss, or engineered wood products
Strong, established relationships across both Edmonton, Northern Alberta, and Southern Alberta markets
Proven track record of driving revenue growth and developing new business
Experience selling into residential and multi family construction
Leadership experience or the ability to step into a leadership role as the team grows
Strong understanding of construction processes, timelines, and customer expectations
Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build and grow a multi region market
Excellent communication and relationship building skills
Comfortable working in a fast paced, growth oriented environment
