Sonora Foods is seeking a CONTRACT QA Technician to join our Quality team.
THIS IS AN AFTERNOON SHIFT POSITION - 2:30 pm to 11 pm. Monday to Friday (12 month contract)

Main Responsibilities
- Perform the lab testing on finished products and ingredients including pH, Moisture analysis, organoleptic testing, shelf life sensory testing daily and maintain the logs
- Perform equipment calibration including pH meters, scales, ATP device
- Perform sanitation chemicals titration on a weekly basis
- Maintain and manage retaining samples and perform lab inventory
- Prepare samples for lab analysis of finished product, ingredients and packaging materials
- Monitor and report the plant temperature
- Maintain a clean and organized QA Lab (Wash lab containers, wipe down surfaces, organize samples) Perform ATP swabbing on a weekly basis and Environmental swabbing on a monthly basis
- Perform holds and release on non-conforming products and materials
- Approve COAs and release ingredients and maintain the documents
- Perform GMP/Glass and Brittle/Safety audits
- Ensure compliance of GMPs, SOPs, and Health and Safety on the production floor. Communicate deficiencies to Supervisors and QA Manager
- Observe and ensure CCP monitoring and verification procedures are being strictly followed
- Assist in food safety and quality training to employees
- Escalate any food safety and quality non-conformities to management
- Flexibility to work alternate shifts as required to cover for vacation and absences
- Other duties as required
Education, Training and Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a QC/QA Technician in food manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of HACCP Principals and GMPs. HACCP team experience is preferred
- Experience with GFSI Standards (FSSC 22000 preferred)
- College Diploma or University Degree in related fields
- Familiarity with pH meters and moisture analyzers, micro swabbing and calibration of lab equipment
- Understanding sound quality assurance principles, statistical process control, sanitation
- High standard of computer literacy – especially Excel
- Ability to multitask as well as prioritize tasks
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail and consistently high level of accuracy
- Possess a high level of critical thinking
- Experience in Root Cause Analysis techniques
- Strong communication skills
