Westburne, a division of Rexel Canada Electrical Inc., is a leader in electrical product distribution participating in the commercial, residential, industrial and institutional markets across Canada.
We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Automation Sales Specialist to join our dynamic sales team. This role is designed for individuals who are eager to grow their technical expertise and sales skills while building a successful career in outside technical sales. The ideal candidate will work closely with senior sales specialists, technical experts, and customers to develop a deep understanding of our products, services, and solutions. This position offers a clear path for professional development. As part of the software and controls specialist portfolio, you will be responsible for; Programmable Logix Controllers, Automation Software, Information Software, Process control and associated complementary product and solution offerings.
Key Responsibilities:
1) Sales Development:
- Build relationships with new and existing customers to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
- Identify opportunities to grow sales within assigned territories by prospecting, networking, and following up on leads.
- Assist in preparing and delivering technical presentations to customers, showcasing the value of our products and services.
2) Technical Expertise:
- Develop a strong understanding of the company’s product portfolio, including electrical, automation, and energy solutions.
- Collaborate with technical teams to provide accurate and effective solutions to customer challenges.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor offerings.
3) Customer Support:
- Serve as a trusted advisor to customers, providing technical guidance and support throughout the sales process.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly to ensure satisfaction and long-term relationships.
4) Professional Growth:
- Participate in training programs, workshops, and mentorship opportunities to enhance technical knowledge and sales skills.
- Shadow senior sales specialists to learn best practices and gain hands-on experience in complex sales scenarios.
- Set and achieve performance goals aligned with the progression to a senior-level role.
5) Collaboration:
- Work closely with internal teams, including engineering, operations, and customer service, to ensure seamless delivery of solutions.
- Provide feedback to product management and marketing teams to improve offerings and address customer needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Electrical Technologist, or related discipline) or equivalent experience.
- 1-3 years of experience in sales, customer service, or a technical role (internships or co-op experience considered).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with customers.
- Technical aptitude and willingness to learn about complex products and solutions.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and eager to take on challenges.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the assigned territory of Alberta.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the electrical, automation, or energy industries.
- Familiarity with CRM software and sales tools.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
