The Opportunity
As a Casual Foot Care RPN, you will provide specialized, mobile nursing foot care directly to clients in their homes, retirement communities, or long-term care facilities. This is a highly autonomous role where you manage your own availability, making it perfect for balancing with another position, studies, or personal commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive lower limb and foot assessments for senior clients.
- Provide advanced and basic foot care treatments, including proper nail trimming, filing, reduction of thickened nails, and management of corns, calluses, and ingrown toenails.
- Assess and monitor high-risk clients, including those with diabetes, neuropathy, and peripheral vascular disease (PVD).
- Provide education to clients and families on proper foot hygiene, footwear, and preventative care.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation regarding assessments and treatments.
- Uphold Nurse Next Door’s core values and standard of care, ensuring a safe, respectful, and joyful experience for every client.
What You Bring
- Licensure: Current registration in good standing as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Specialization: Successful completion of a recognized Advanced Nursing Foot Care Course (theory and clinical components).
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience (home care or community care experience is a strong asset).
- Equipment: Possession of your own sterilized/autoclaved foot care tools and mobile kit is preferred.
- Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).
