About the Opportunity
We are seeking a CPA designated Controller to join our client's team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical accounting foundation in a project-based environment.
The Controller is responsible for leading all accounting, financial reporting, and analysis functions across project-driven construction and equipment rental operations. This position ensures effective internal controls, precise tracking of project costs, accurate asset accounting, and compliance with GAAP, while delivering timely financial insights to inform business decisions. Working closely with operations, project teams, fleet management, and senior leadership, the Controller plays a key role in enhancing profitability, optimizing cash flow, and improving overall operational performance.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Lead the delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and meaningful management insights
Maintain oversight of the general ledger, safeguarding the completeness and reliability of all financial records
Review project financials, including contract performance, cost tracking, work-in-progress schedules, revenue recognition, backlog, and margin analysis
Oversee receivables and collection activities, ensuring adherence to payment terms and minimizing outstanding balances
Administer accounting and reporting for both owned and leased fixed assets
Track capital expenditures and perform financial evaluations related to equipment and fleet investments
Facilitate the annual budgeting cycle and analyze variances between actual results and forecasted performance
Act as a key liaison during external audits, coordinating documentation and ensuring timely responses
Prepare and organize required data to support corporate tax filings
Provide leadership, coaching, and development to members of the finance team
Enhance financial processes and reporting capabilities through system improvements, data quality initiatives, and ERP optimization
Ensure adherence to GAAP, internal policies, and established control frameworks
Deliver on-demand financial analysis and support strategic decision-making for leadership as needed
About You
The successful candidate will have the following:
CPA designation in good standing
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Minimum of 6 years of progressive finance/accounting experience; previous experience as a senior leader in a project-based environment
Large ERP system and advanced Excel skills are required

This is an on-site role located in Windsor, ON
The salary band for this opportunity is $100,000 to $150,000 depending on relevant previous experience
