Position Title: Youth Addictions Care Counsellor
Location: Clairmont, Alberta
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Schedule: 4-on 4-off rotation - 12-hour shifts

Hours: Night Shift

Established in 1972, MPCSSN is a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering diverse community and family-focused programming tailored to the unique needs of Alberta's Northwest region. We collaborate with Child and Family Services, Recovery Alberta and Alberta Human Services to provide comprehensive support services. Our organization is accredited by CARF International and is a proud member of the ALIGN Association of Community Services and the Children’s Welfare League of Canada.

This role’s expected schedule is a rotation of 4 days on and 4 days off with 12-hour shifts. Specific scheduling will depend on program needs and will be discussed during the hiring process
$48,124 annual salary, with annual $500 salary increments applied up to six (6) years of employment

About the Program:

MPCSSN's Solstice Integrated Wellness Center (SIWC) has operated in Clairmont, AB for more than a decade and has remained committed to supporting youth utilizing evidence-based frameworks including family-based model of care, trauma-informed care, stages of change, and person-centered approaches. SIWC is a structured, short-term intervention, immersive program for youth presenting any variety of addiction or mental health concerns. SIWC Support Professionals work in close collaboration with the program's funder, Recovery Alberta, to deliver holistic services to youth and their families.

Role and Responsibilities:

The Addictions Youth Care Counsellor is responsible for working as part of a team to ensure the overall success of the youth and the program. The Youth Care Counsellor should have an understanding of basic counselling skills (i.e. Informal Counselling) and Trauma based knowledge for an understanding of the youth that we serve.
Develop appropriate relationships with clients and identify their uniqueness and individuality.
Coordinate support services based on identified goals.
Ensure clients physical, medical, emotional, and other needs are met as identified (personal hygiene, grocery and personal shopping, medication monitoring and dispensing, medical and dental appointments scheduled as needed, etc.)
Promote physical and emotional safety for clients served.
Provide emotional support and uses a variety of counselling skills as required.
Complete timely documentation (daily client logs, communicating support plans with the team, monthly progress reports, administrative documentation responsibilities, etc.)
Ensure all household documentation is completed with input from individuals served (meal plan calendar, monthly programming calendar, chore charts, etc.)
Will understand the importance of being a strong advocate for clients and will advocate on behalf of the client in all necessary situations.
Implements the MPCSSN Culture Code in their daily activities (Commit to Continuous Growth, Cultivate Authentic Experiences, Take Ownership & Pride)

Must have

Degree or 2 Year Diploma in Child and Youth Care, or related human services field.
Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License
Driver’s Abstract
Clear Criminal Records Check
Clear Children’s Service Intervention Record Check.
Vehicle Insurance stating $2 million liability and access to a reliable vehicle

Hiring Assets

Experience as a childcare worker, support worker, addictions/mental health worker an asset
