What you will do...
The Director of Operations & Impact is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), responsible for advancing organizational effectiveness, strategic execution, operational sustainability, and organizational impact across Radiance Family Society.
This role provides enterprise leadership across operations, strategic initiatives, evaluation and reporting, organizational risk, infrastructure, systems, and cross-functional organizational alignment. The Director ensures organizational priorities are translated into effective operational execution while championing a culture grounded in Radiance’s values and commitment to trauma-informed practice.
Working closely with the Executive Director and ELT, the Director supports organizational leadership, strategic planning, organizational readiness, and leadership continuity. This role acts on behalf of the Executive Director, as required, and supports the organization in navigating growth, complexity, organizational change, and evolving sector opportunities.
This position participates in an on-call rotation and may work occasional evening/weekend hours.
Strategic Leadership and Organizational Alignment
- In collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), support the development and execution of Radiance’s strategic direction, operational priorities, and organizational goals.
- Lead cross-functional organizational planning and coordination to ensure alignment between strategy, operations, risk management, evaluation, and organizational priorities.
- Support organizational readiness, scalability, and change management initiatives in alignment with Radiance’s evolving strategic direction.
- Lead the coordination and execution of annual operational planning processes, including organizational goals, objectives, and key performance indicators.
- Ensure organizational initiatives are prioritized, integrated, and executed effectively across departments.
- Support organizational effectiveness through the development of accountability systems, operational frameworks, and performance monitoring practices.
- Support executive-level decision-making through organizational analysis, strategic recommendations, and operational insight.
- Represent the organization with external stakeholders, partners, funders, and sector collaborators, as appropriate.
- Act on behalf of the Executive Director, as required, to support leadership continuity and organizational operations.
Operations, Infrastructure, and Risk Management
- Provide leadership oversight to organizational operations through direct supervision and support of operational leadership roles.
- Lead organizational risk management and business continuity planning processes and ensure risks are appropriately monitored, escalated, and integrated into operational planning.
- Oversee organizational infrastructure strategy, operational sustainability, and facility-related planning in collaboration with the Operations Manager.
- Oversee Radiance’s privacy, health & safety, technology, and operational compliance frameworks.
- Provide executive oversight into technology strategy, systems implementation, and operational improvement initiatives.
- Oversee organizational procurement practices, vendor relationships, contracts, and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) processes to ensure organizational accountability and value.
- Support infrastructure exploration, capital planning, and operational readiness initiatives aligned with organizational strategy.
- Ensure agency policies and procedures reflect current legislation, best practices, and organizational standards.
Organizational Impact, Evaluation, and Strategic Initiatives
- Provide leadership oversight to organizational evaluation, reporting, strategic initiatives, and organizational learning functions.
- Ensure organizational data, reporting, and evaluation practices support decision-making, accountability, funding requirements, and strategic planning.
- Oversee organizational dashboards, reporting frameworks, and impact measurement processes.
- Support the advancement of organizational accreditation readiness, compliance practices, quality improvement, and enterprise accountability systems.
- Lead and support organization-wide strategic initiatives that strengthen consistency, alignment, organizational learning, and operational excellence.
- Ensure evaluation, risk, compliance, and strategic initiative functions are integrated into organizational planning and operational decision-making.
Financial Management and Organizational Sustainability
- Contribute to the development and monitoring of annual operating budgets in collaboration with finance leadership and the ELT.
- Monitor organizational financial risks and operational sustainability considerations.
- Support quarterly and annual organizational reporting processes.
- Provide operational and strategic input into funding proposals, grant budgets, reports, and organizational sustainability initiatives.
- Support financial planning related to organizational growth, infrastructure, and strategic initiatives.
- Liaise with funders, government representatives, auditors, and financial stakeholders, as required.
People, Culture, and Leadership
- Provide leadership, supervision, coaching, and support to direct reports, fostering accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
- Foster a culture grounded in Radiance’s values, trauma-informed practice, organizational learning, and continuous improvement.
- Support organizational cohesion, communication, and change management initiatives across teams.
- Lead through influence and collaboration to strengthen alignment and partnership across departments.
- Support leadership development, succession readiness, and organizational capacity-building efforts.
- Partner with Human Resources and ELT to support workforce planning, leadership development, onboarding, and organizational culture initiatives.
- Model emotionally intelligent, relational, and values-based leadership.
Miscellaneous:
- Lead and participate in organization-wide and project-based initiatives.
- Participate in training and other professional development opportunities.
- Participate in on-call support, as required.
- Other duties as assigned by Executive Director
What you will bring...
- Graduate degree in business, leadership, public administration, social services, organizational development, or another related field. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of education.
- Minimum 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in operations, strategy, organizational leadership, administration, or related areas.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience leading managers and cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated experience leading organizational change, strategic initiatives, and operational planning.
- Experience supporting organizational growth, cross-functional integration, and enterprise-level decision-making.
- Strong understanding of organizational systems, strategy execution, change management, and operational sustainability.
- Experience overseeing one or more of the following areas: operations, strategy, administration, evaluation, compliance, infrastructure, technology, risk, or organizational effectiveness.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and experience working within complex human-service or community-based environments.
- Experience in the non-profit sector preferred.
- Project management and organizational change management experience are assets.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
- Well-versed in best practices in social innovation, systems thinking, and organizational leadership.
Mandatory requirements:
- Affinity for working with children and families.
- Clear Police Security/Vulnerable Sector Check to be maintained.
- Mon – Fri: 8:30am – 4:30pm; with some weekends and evening shifts throughout the year.
- Standing, bending, crouching, and lifting required.
- This role is eligible for Hybrid Remote work.
