Full job description

Shift Heating and Cooling is a fast-growing residential HVAC company serving Calgary and the surrounding area. We specialize in furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ductless systems, indoor air quality products, and hot water tanks.

We are committed to providing exceptional customer service, clean installations, and professional workmanship while building a strong team culture that supports growth and development.

Position Overview

We are seeking a 3rd or 4th Year Refrigeration Apprentice with both installation and service experience to join our team.

This position will involve a combination of residential service, maintenance, diagnostics, and installations. The successful candidate will be comfortable troubleshooting equipment, interacting with customers, and assisting with or leading installation projects.

ResponsibilitiesService & Maintenance

Diagnose and repair residential HVAC equipment
Service furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ductless systems
Perform preventative maintenance and inspections
Troubleshoot electrical, refrigeration, airflow, and control issues
Complete service documentation and recommendations
Provide professional customer communication and education

Installation

Install residential furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and mini-split systems
Install and modify ductwork as required
Complete refrigerant piping, pressure testing, evacuation, charging, and commissioning
Perform equipment start-ups and operational testing
Ensure installations meet manufacturer specifications and local codes
Maintain clean and organized job sites

QualificationsRequired

Registered 3rd or 4th Year Refrigeration Apprentice
Valid Alberta Driver's License with a clean driving record
Residential HVAC installation experience
Residential HVAC service and troubleshooting experience
Experience working with:
Furnaces
Air Conditioners
Heat Pumps
Ductless Mini-Splits
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Professional customer service and communication skills

Preferred Assets

Experience with inverter-driven heat pump systems
Experience with Daikin, Goodman, Lennox, AirEase, or similar equipment
Experience commissioning and troubleshooting communicating systems

Compensation

$42.00 – $55.00 per hour

Compensation will be based on experience, certifications, diagnostic ability, installation experience, and overall skill set.
