The Opportunity
We are seeking a visionary Principal Software Engineer to define, architect, and lead our transition from traditional manual development to a highly automated, AI-driven agentic ecosystem.
As a Principal Engineer, you will not just manage agents; you will architect the entire multi-agent framework, establish organizational guardrails, and lead the technical vision for our next-generation SaaS platform. You will balance deep hands-on expertise in distributed systems with advanced AI orchestrations—shifting the engineering paradigm from manual syntax creation to high-level systemic oversight, verification, and cross-functional leadership.
Tech Stack & Tools
- Languages/Frameworks: PHP (Laravel), Node.js (Next.js/Nestjs), React, Open-Source Technologies
- Architecture: AWS, Microservices, Distributed Systems, RESTful APIs/Webservices
- AI Tooling & Orchestration: Windsurf, Claude 4.6+, GPT 5.4+, LangChain/Semantic Kernel, and Custom Agentic Frameworks.
Key Pillars of Responsibility
- Visionary & System Architect: Drive the overall architecture and technical direction of complex software projects. Design the foundational patterns that allow AI agents to safely interact with our core PHP/Node microservices and distributed AWS infrastructure.
- Enterprise Context Stewardship: Champion and curate the organizational "Digital Brain." Architect robust RAG pipelines and knowledge repositories to ensure autonomous agents generate modern, secure, and performant code while strictly avoiding deprecated legacy patterns.
- Guardrail & Compliance Authority: Serve as the ultimate authority for system integrity. Establish automated frameworks and auditing practices to ensure all outputs (human or AI) strictly adhere to HIPAA compliance, healthcare security standards, and optimal performance benchmarks.
- Agent Ecosystem Multiplier: When systemic errors occur, you "fix the ecosystem." Design systemic prompts, configuration rules, and orchestration workflows so that edge cases and logical faults are permanently mitigated across parallel agent streams.
- Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Lead by example. Foster a high-performance engineering culture by mentoring junior, mid, and senior engineers on how to pivot from traditional coding to successful agent orchestration and rigorous output verification.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Product Owners, Executives, and cross-functional teams to translate complex business objectives and Gherkin/BDD specifications into automated technical execution plans.
Skills & Requirements
- Core Engineering Mastery: 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, featuring deep expertise in PHP (Laravel), Node.js, and modern frontend frameworks like React.
- Advanced Architecture: 8+ years of experience in API/RESTful web services design, OOPS design patterns, CI/CD pipelines, and database optimization (SQL/NoSQL).
- Agentic Leadership & Orchestration: Proven ability to move beyond basic LLM chatting to orchestrate parallel, multi-agent workflows, setting enterprise-level "rules of the road" for autonomous code, test, and documentation generation.
- Rigorous Verification Oversight: Expert-level understanding of automated testing frameworks (e.g., Playwright). Proven capability in defining robust failure scenarios to guarantee system resilience before code reaches human review.
- Accountability & Governance: A profound commitment to systemic integrity, taking 100% responsibility for the safety, scalability, and quality of the production environment, regardless of how the code was generated.
- Communication & Influence: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a proven track record of explaining complex architectural and AI concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Bonus Points
- Direct experience engineering software within the Healthcare or Practice Management space.
- Formal certifications or advanced coursework in Generative AI, LLM fine-tuning, or Agentic workflow development.
- Active contributions to open-source projects or public technical forums focusing on AI automation.
