The Opportunity
We’re looking for a hands-on Senior Systems Engineer who thrives at the intersection of operations and strategy. In this role, you will be the organization’s go-to expert for deskside support and enterprise systems, while also shaping and evolving our overall IT architecture.
You’ll take ownership of our infrastructure roadmap, designing and implementing scalable, secure, and modern systems across servers, cloud platforms, networking, and security. From leading system integrations and managing a hybrid Microsoft environment to strengthening cybersecurity and enabling AI-ready capabilities, you will play a critical role in advancing our technology landscape.
This is a backfill opportunity for someone who enjoys both rolling up their sleeves to solve day-to-day technical challenges and stepping back to assess, design, and continuously improve the broader IT environment. You’ll collaborate closely with leadership, lead initiatives end-to-end, and help build a resilient, well-governed technology foundation that supports long-term business growth.
Success in this role requires more than technical expertise. You are approachable, collaborative, and positive, with the confidence to navigate complexity and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This role will report to our leadership team directly.
What You’ll Do:
- Be the go-to expert for deskside support and infrastructure administration.
- Define and evolve the organization’s IT architecture and infrastructure roadmap, building scalable, secure, and modern systems to support business growth and digital transformation initiatives, including AI enablement.
- Lead special technology projects from inception through completion.
- Establish and maintain enterprise architecture standards, ensuring systems, integrations, and platforms are aligned, secure, and optimized for performance, scalability, and resilience.
- Monitor system performance and proactively recommend improvements.
- Manage backups, server logs, and alert systems for early issue detection.
- Collaborate with external providers for troubleshooting and support.
- Implement changes using formal change control policies.
- Lead the creation and governance of enterprise documentation and control frameworks (including data handling, retention, and backup policies) to strengthen organizational resilience and ensure secure, compliant technology practices.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve IT policies, standards, SOPs and technical documentation to ensure consistent operational support, strengthen cybersecurity and business continuity practices, and establish a secure, well-governed foundation for future AI adoption.
- Support the development of an AI-ready technology foundation by enabling secure data access, integration readiness, and scalable infrastructure design.
- Present IT reports and budget proposals to the Management Team.
- Contribute to business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend upgrades.
- Support cybersecurity initiatives and infrastructure hardening.
- Primarily based at our Mississauga head office, with occasional local support at a nearby secondary Mississauga site and limited travel (approx. 1–2 trips per year) to our Ohio location, as needed.
What You Bring:
- 5-7 years of experience in server and systems administration
