Job Summary
DriveWise BC is looking for a motivated, patient, and outgoing individual to join our Nanaimo team as a Driving Instructor!
Do you enjoy driving, teaching, and helping others achieve their goals? This is a great opportunity to turn your passion for driving into a rewarding career. No previous driving instructor experience is required — we provide paid training and support you through the process of becoming a licensed driving instructor in BC.
As a Driving Instructor, you will help students of all ages build confidence behind the wheel, develop safe driving habits, and prepare for their road tests. We are looking for someone who is friendly, professional, reliable, and passionate about providing excellent customer service.
Important Training Information:
Successful applicants must be available to attend a three-week paid training program in Victoria, BC beginning September 10th, 2026. Training will run Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. After successfully completing training, you will begin teaching driving lessons in Nanaimo.
Travel support may be available for successful applicants travelling from Nanaimo to Victoria for training. Details will be discussed during the hiring process.
Responsibilities
- Conduct driving lessons for students of varying skill levels, from beginner drivers to experienced learners preparing for their road test.
- Create a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable and confident.
- Teach safe driving practices, defensive driving techniques, vehicle operation, and traffic laws.
- Provide personalized instruction based on each student's needs and learning style.
- Evaluate student progress and provide clear, constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate lesson records and student progress notes.
- Ensure lessons are delivered safely and professionally.
- Provide excellent customer service and represent DriveWise BC in a positive manner.
Requirements
- Valid BC Class 5 driver's licence with a clean driving record.
- Able to complete the requirements to obtain an ICBC Driving Instructor Licence.
- Able to pass a BC Driver's Medical examination.
- Able to complete a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain concepts clearly.
- Patient, encouraging, and comfortable working with students of all ages.
- Reliable, professional, and confident behind the wheel.
- Previous experience in teaching, coaching, training, or customer service is an asset but not required.
