Position Overview

Torus Talent is supporting a well-established engineering consultancy in their search for a Geotechnical Engineer to join their growing team in Northern British Columbia.

This role is based in Terrace and will support a diverse portfolio of projects across highways, infrastructure, industrial developments, and geohazard work throughout the Terrace, Prince Rupert, and Kitimat region.

This is a key hire for a growing regional team, where the successful candidate will play a dual role in both technical delivery and mentorship. You will support project execution across a range of geotechnical scopes while also helping guide and develop junior engineers and EITs. Over time, this individual will help strengthen local technical capabilities, allowing senior leadership to focus on business development and regional growth.

This role is well suited to a geotechnical engineer who enjoys a balance of field and office work, is comfortable working in a “boots on the ground” environment, and is looking to take on increasing responsibility within a growing team.

Further Responsibilities Include the Following

Deliver geotechnical engineering scopes across a variety of projects, including highways, infrastructure, industrial, and commercial developments
Support and lead investigations related to soil conditions, foundations, earthworks, and soft ground challenges
Provide geotechnical input into design, construction planning, and execution
Conduct and support field investigations, site visits, and construction oversight as required
Work closely with project managers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery
Support geohazard assessments and mitigation strategies related to infrastructure and transportation projects
Contribute to Ministry of Transportation-related work, including highways and associated infrastructure
Prepare and review technical reports, recommendations, and engineering deliverables
Mentor and support junior engineers and EITs within the team
Assist with project coordination, scheduling, and client communication
Contribute to building and strengthening the local Terrace team

Ideal Candidate Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical, Civil, or Geological Engineering
P.Eng. designation in British Columbia (or eligibility) preferred
Approximately 7+ years of geotechnical engineering experience (E3–E5 level)
Strong experience in geotechnical investigations, foundations, earthworks, and soil mechanics
Experience supporting infrastructure, transportation, or heavy industrial projects
Familiarity with Ministry of Transportation projects and standards is considered an asset
Experience with geohazard assessments and mitigation is an asset
Comfortable working in both field-based and office environments
Proven ability to manage or support projects from investigation through to delivery
Strong communication skills and ability to work with clients and multidisciplinary teams
Interest in mentoring junior staff and contributing to team growth
