Job Description:

This is a contractor role based in Toronto for the position of Pilates (mat) Instructor at Puppy Sphere. We’re looking for a confident, experienced instructor who is passionate about delivering high-quality, fitness-first classes and creating a welcoming, elevated studio experience.

Our Pilates Instructors are responsible for leading structured mat Pilates classes that are engaging, well-paced, and deliver a strong workout. The focus of this role is purely on instruction, creating a seamless class flow, holding a strong presence in the room, and ensuring every guest has a positive and energising experience.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment, loves building connection through movement, and brings confidence, clarity, and energy into every class they lead.

This is a contractor, onsite role based in Toronto. Weekend availability is required.

The Class:

Puppy Pilates is a premium, fitness-first class that combines a structured mat Pilates workout with Puppy Sphere’s signature puppy social experience; a real Pilates workout with the happiest cooldown on earth!

Each 60-minute class includes a 40-minute instructor-led mat Pilates class (no puppies), focused on strength, control, and full-body toning, followed by a 20-minute puppy social, where guests can unwind and interact with the puppies.

Resistance bands and weighted balls will be available for guests, and instructors may incorporate them into their classes as desired.

Scheduling & Class Expectations:

Our Pilates Instructors are engaged to deliver multiple classes within a scheduled session, typically consisting of up to four classes per day.

A typical session includes:

Arrival approximately 15 minutes prior to the first class to prepare
Leading scheduled classes (40 minutes)

Typical Class Schedule:

9:00am - 9:40am
10:30am - 11:10am
12:00pm - 12:40pm
1:30pm - 2:10pm

Instructors may leave the studio between classes, with the expectation that they return approximately 15 minutes prior to their next scheduled class to prepare for instruction.

Class times may vary slightly depending on scheduling and demand, with advance notice provided wherever possible.

Compensation:

Compensation is provided on a per 40 minute class basis:

$50 CAD per class

Job Responsibilities:

Deliver engaging, instructor-led 40-minute mat Pilates classes (beginner–intermediate), focused on strength, control, and full-body toning.
Create a welcoming, inclusive, and motivating environment that encourages guest participation.
Structure classes in line with Puppy Sphere’s class format and experience guidelines (warm-up, sculpt, peak burn, cooldown).
Provide clear cueing, guidance, and modifications to support a range of fitness levels.
Deliver a clear and engaging introduction at the start of each class, outlining structure, equipment use, and what to expect.
Communicate clearly and confidently throughout the session to guide guests and create a smooth, well-paced class experience.
Hold a strong presence in the room, maintaining energy, flow, and engagement from start to finish.
Maintain awareness of the overall studio environment, ensuring alignment with Puppy Sphere’s experience standards and puppy welfare guidelines throughout the session.
Collaborate with on-site staff to ensure a seamless overall experience for guests, while maintaining a clear focus on instruction.
Foster a sense of community and encourage repeat attendance.
Share feedback on class flow, guest experience, and overall delivery to support the ongoing development of the Puppy Pilates offering.
Ensure alignment with Puppy Sphere’s brand, experience standards, puppy welfare and studio guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications and Job Requirements:

Certified Mat Pilates Instructor (required; certification from a recognized training provider preferred).
Applicants must be able to provide a valid copy of their Pilates certification(s).
Must hold valid Professional Liability Insurance covering fitness instruction.
Availability to teach on weekends and weekdays (Saturday and/or Sunday and/or Thursday) is required.
Availability to deliver a full scheduled day (typically up to four classes).
Experience teaching group mat Pilates classes, ideally in a boutique fitness or studio environment.
Confident delivering beginner–intermediate level classes with clear structure and progression.
Excellent communication skills, with clear cueing and the ability to support a range of fitness levels.
Strong understanding of anatomy, alignment, and injury prevention.
Comfortable around dogs and able to support a puppy-inclusive environment in a calm and professional manner.
Experience working in fast-paced, customer-facing environments is an asset.
