Your role as Senior Software Developer, Full Stack
The Senior Software Developer, Full Stack joins a dedicated team that translates requirements from a large partner into capabilities built directly into the Dialogue platform. The guiding principle is one codebase: every feature driven by this partnership, whether it touches the embedded mobile experience, member eligibility flows, backend APIs, or web interfaces, ships as part of Dialogue’s core product so it can be maintained, extended, and offered to all current and future clients.
You will work across the stack: on the front end, in our main application repository (a React Native application (iOS, Android, and web) built with Expo and the Hermes JavaScript engine) and on the back-end, in Scribe (Dialogue’s central membership and eligibility registry) and its surrounding Python microservices. A key part of your scope is the Brownfield SDK, the mechanism that packages the Dialogue app as a native library (XCFramework on iOS, AAR on Android) so it can be embedded inside the partner’s existing native app. You will collaborate daily with other developers, DevSecOps, data engineers, QA, product managers, and the partner’s technical teams.
What you'll be doing
You will own deliverables across the full development lifecycle, from design collaboration through implementation, testing, and release, spanning both the front end and the back end. The mandate covers new feature development and maintenance of the embedded module as well as codebase health.
Day-to-day you will:
-
Develop and maintain the React Native application that serves as both the standalone Dialogue member app and the source for the embedded SDK. The front-end codebase uses TypeScript (with an ongoing migration from JavaScript), Redux with Sagas for state management, and Expo for the build and development toolchain.
-
Build and maintain RESTful APIs in Python (FastAPI) that serve the Brownfield SDK and partner-facing integration endpoints.
-
Work on the Brownfield SDK integration layer, including the BrownfieldBridge — a fully typed TypeScript contract that governs all communication across the JavaScript/native boundary.
-
Support the release management of the embedded module, including version control, rebasing to align with the partner’s release cadence and Dialogue updates, and maintaining the compatibility matrix. SDK artifacts (XCFramework and AAR) are built by CircleCI workflows and distributed to the partner. You will work with DevSecOps to keep this pipeline reliable.
-
Write and maintain tests across the stack. On the front end, the project has approximately 4,400 unit tests across 483 test suites, plus snapshot tests. On the back end, the team uses FastAPI’s TestClient (ASGI) for integration tests, with dependency injection for mocking auth and tenant context. You will help strengthen test coverage on high-impact components and backend endpoints.
-
Deliver new platform features driven by partner requirements — such as improved pharmacy experiences and in-app healthcare journeys — while ensuring these features are designed generically enough to become part of Dialogue’s standard offering for all clients.
-
Participate in technical design and code review. Write and review technical design documents to align the team on clear solutions. Contribute to the ongoing TypeScript migration on the front end and the Pyramid-to-FastAPI migration on the back end to reduce complexity and improve consistency across the platform.
-
Operate services in production on AWS EKS (Kubernetes). Backend services are containerized and deployed to Kubernetes clusters provisioned via Terraform. You will monitor service health using Datadog, manage feature rollouts with LaunchDarkly, and participate in incident response.
We'd love to hear from you if you have
-
Have 5 or more years of professional experience building web and mobile applications across the full stack, with strong proficiency in both front-end and back-end development.
-
Are proficient in TypeScript, modern React patterns (hooks, functional components, context), and React Native. The application codebase uses Expo, Hermes, and Redux with Sagas, and is actively migrating from JavaScript to TypeScript.
-
Are proficient in Python and have hands-on experience with FastAPI or similar async web frameworks (Django, Flask, aiohttp).
-
Have strong experience with PostgreSQL and SQLAlchemy ORM, including relational modeling, query optimization, and migration management.
-
Experience with native bridge APIs between JavaScript and Swift/Kotlin is a strong asset.
-
Have worked with cloud infrastructure on AWS, including containerized deployments on Kubernetes (EKS), and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
-
Have a track record of architecting, organizing, and shipping significant software initiatives. You break down work into incremental changes and consistently deliver value across both front-end and back-end systems.
-
Communicate clearly and effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues. The role involves close collaboration with DevSecOps, data engineers, QA, product managers, and partner technical teams.
-
Experience with CI/CD pipelines (CircleCI), feature flag systems (LaunchDarkly), accessibility standards (WCAG), observability tooling (Datadog), and OAuth 2.0 authentication flows are an asset.
Dialogue is building a permanent, dedicated team to deliver on the priorities of a large partner — but with a deliberate architectural philosophy: every capability this team builds ships as part of the Dialogue platform. As a full-stack developer, you will work across the entire surface — from the React Native application and Brownfield SDK that millions of users interact with inside their partner app, to the Python backend services that manage eligibility, membership, and authentication. Your ability to move fluidly between front-end and back-end systems is what makes this role uniquely impactful: you will connect the user-facing healthcare experience directly to the platform services that power it, while simultaneously strengthening Dialogue’s core product for all current and future clients. This is foundational work at the intersection of mobile engineering, backend platform development, and partnership delivery.
Please note that as we serve customers across Canada, bilingualism is an asset for this position. You may be required to communicate in French and English.
