We are seeking an experienced Logistics and Warehouse Supervisor to lead and strengthen our warehouse and logistics operations in Cambridge, Ontario. This role provides the opportunity to drive process improvements, support production efficiency, and lead a team of unionized employees in maintaining high standards of safety, accuracy, and accountability. The successful candidate will combine practical leadership with strong organizational skills to ensure materials, inventory, and shipping operations run smoothly and reliably. This is a permanent day shift position within a respected Canadian manufacturing company.
Responsibilities
· Lead, train, develop, supervise, and mentor employees under the direction of the Logistics Manager, including conducting team meetings, tracking hours, managing performance, and providing constructive feedback.
· Allocate work to meet daily targets, ensure productivity and efficiency, and maintain compliance with the collective agreement, applying progressive discipline as required.
· Oversee daily warehouse and logistics operations, including receiving, storing, shipping of products, customs documentation, pickups, deliveries, and coordination with vendors and suppliers.
· Ensure accurate inventory control, stock replenishment, system integrity, and adherence to quality standards through audits, monitoring KPIs, and reporting.
· Identify areas for process improvement, implement best practices, and optimize warehouse layout and space utilization.
· Ensure a safe and organized work environment in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, participating in safety inspections, audits, and investigating incidents, accidents, and near-misses.
· Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain operational consistency and efficiency and collaborate with Purchasing and Operations to troubleshoot operational issues as they arise.
· Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and team development.
Qualifications
· 5+ years of experience in logistics, warehouse management, or supply chain, with a proven track record supervising and leading a team within a unionized environment.
· Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems, and MS Office/reporting tools.
· Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field, combined with relevant experience, is preferred. Professional certifications such as APICS/ASCM (CPIM, CSCP, CLTD) or Canadian logistics, transportation, and distribution certifications, along with warehouse safety training (e.g., forklift, WHMIS), are considered assets.
· Skilled at implementing processes to achieve business objectives, with experience in Lean or Six Sigma methodologies considered an asset.
· Commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and work safely in a manufacturing environment with noise and machinery exposure.
· Forklift license is an asset.
