About the team
The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Retirement Plan staff administer the pension plan that covers Saskatchewan teachers, ensuring they have a lifetime pension on retirement. The STRP staff use their professional skills to provide accurate calculations and support to teachers planning and during their retirement.
What you’ll do
The Senior Pension Analyst works in a collaborative environment and is responsible for a wide variety of professional, technical and analytical activities. They take the lead role in providing leadership and support in the financial, data and system management for the Plan. In addition, they have a significant role in assisting both the Pension Director and Manager, Pension Data and Processing, in the planning, implementation and delivery of strategies, goals, programs and services for the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Retirement Plan.
Responsibilities include:
- Prepare and participate in regular meetings with members as it relates to their pension estimates and payouts.
- Provide professional advice to member queries via email, telephone or in person.
- Provide financial information for budgeting and forecasting purposes as required.

Provide senior leaders with recommendations for proactive changes to customized software in anticipation of issues and industry changes.

Provide expertise and guidance in implementing pension data management and payroll policies and processes.

Develop guidelines and monitor the effectiveness and efficiencies in responding to and delivering benefit payments, benefit statements, and tax reporting while ensuring compliance with all provincial and federal pension regulations.

Ensure timeliness and accuracy of contribution receipts and benefit payments.

Resolve issues related to data reporting and benefit payments and develop appropriate communication programs to address those issues.
- Ensure timeliness and accuracy of tax remittances, government reporting, and filings.
- Responsible for the review, reconciliation and reporting of all contribution receipts.

Responsible for the review and authorization for all benefit payouts, including the monthly retirement payroll.

Responsible for pension data maintenance, data management and data preparation for year-end processes, valuations, etc.

Responsible for the review and testing of program changes to all customized software.

Organize and schedule analyst workload and responsibilities to ensure deadlines and legislated filings are accurate and timely.

Peer review work of pension analysts and technicians.

Participate in special projects as required by the Pension Director and Pension Manager, including research and preparation of documents and implementation of recommendations.

Team lead responsibilities such as training, assigning workload, managing performance, and career development.
What you’ll bring
- An undergraduate degree in the area of economics or business administration and a Pension Plan Administration Certificate or equivalent, combined with five years of related pension experience.
- Highly effective customer service skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.

Established interpersonal skills for working with plan members, employees at all organizational levels and with officials of other organizations.

Proficiency in Excel and Word.

Effective presentation and communication skills.

Demonstrated skill in arithmetic and mathematics.

Experience and/or training in an automated pension administration system or similar system.

Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply plan legislation, text, and policies.

Good knowledge of pension plan administration principles, techniques and practices is an asset.
