Full job description

Job Overview
Metro Vancouver Lining is a growing geomembrane installation company that focuses on stormwater management systems for commercial and residential construction. We are seeking a skilled and competent Geomembrane Installation Foreman to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for supervising the installation, welding, and testing of HDPE and LLDPE membranes.

The ideal candidate will have supervisory experience, strong communication skills, the ability to read construction documents, a strong technical background in extrusion and wedge welding, hold relevant safety certifications, and demonstrate the ability to complete watertight membrane installations. This position requires a commitment to on-site project execution, continual communication between stakeholders and quality workmanship.

Metro Vancouver Lining is unique in the geomembrane industry because we do not require our employees to travel to remote worksites for extended periods. No hotels, no trailers and most weekends and holidays are time off.

Responsibilities

Provide daily supervision and leadership of on-site crew.
Set and maintain work standards and outlining behavioral expectations to ensure crew morale, productivity and safety.
Meet with project managers, site superintendents, engineers to discuss project execution, maintain constant communication, address issues during project execution and ensure seamless completion of projects.
Assess material and equipment on site and notify the office of any shortages in a timely manner.
Ensure crew performs quality control testing and completes quality control documentation.
Complete site inspections, safety paperwork and ensure the crew complete the work in compliance with company safe work practices.
Perform wedge and extrusion welds on geomembrane seams and seal membrane penetrations to provide clients with a waterproof lining system.
Conduct routine maintenance, repairs, and setup of equipment.
Provide installation training for junior technicians following industry-standard practices.
Deploy, transport, handle, properly store, and install materials.
Perform duties in a workmanlike manner that meets all governmental, regulatory, company, and site-specific safety requirements.
Ensure all tools and equipment are in good working order and report any issues as needed.
Drive company vehicle to job sites around the Greater Vancouver region.
Complete other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with geomembrane installations.
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to read and understand construction documents and specifications.
Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
Physically fit; capable of lifting heavy loads, loading and unloading tools, and working in adverse weather conditions.
Ability to work on scaffolding and in confined spaces.
Class 5 driver’s license.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to find timely solutions to issues on site.
Strong knowledge of geomembrane installation procedures and best practices.
Proficiency in using welding equipment, power tools, and hand tools.

Assets

IAGI welding certificate.
Safety certifications such as WHMIS, Confined Space, Fall Protection, and First Aid.
WorkSafe Supervising for Safety certificate.
QA/QC experience.
