A Confidential Transportation and Logistics Company has an immediate opening for a Working Shop Foreman. The successful candidate will be an experienced Journeyperson (either Heavy Duty or Automotive) with a minimum two years of leadership experience.

This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday day shift – no evenings, weekends or overtime required.

Compensation: $65.00 - $68.00 per hour, based on experience

Job Summary
The Shop Foreman is responsible for supervising and directing the daily activities of a team of Technicians and Apprentices, ensuring that the servicing and repair of equipment is completed efficiently, accurately and in a timely manner. The successful candidate must be organized and able to multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Approximately 40% Foreman duties and 60% on the tools. The goal of this position is to maximize efficiency in the shop and manage work assignments to ensure maintenance deadlines are met and daily service runs smoothly.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide strong leadership to Shop employees.
Prioritize and allocate work assignments to technicians and ensure that work is performed in accordance with established procedures, deadlines and quality standards.
Monitor and review the progress of work orders and maintenance records, ensuring that deadlines are met and any issues or delays are promptly addressed.
Conduct regular inspections of work in progress and complete repairs to ensure quality, accuracy and adherence to specifications.
Troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical issues or problems, providing technical expertise and guidance to technicians.
Ensure that resources, equipment and materials are available for scheduled repairs.
Collaborate with other departments, including operations, and parts to facilitate smooth workflow.
Promote a safe work environment through the implementation of safe work procedures and adhere to Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
Inspect units daily to ensure they are ready for the following day.
Identify deficiencies and correct them.
Determine disciplinary actions and work with Management team to follow proper process.
Follow Company procedures, policies, practices, and review with employees during weekly toolbox talks or safety meetings.
Ensure that all training is kept current for yourself and your team.
Assess hazards and correct them in a timely manner.
Maintain the PPE and its usage with employees.
Ongoing fleet maintenance, preventative maintenance, inspections as required for compliance and safety purposes.

Qualifications:

Journeyperson Automotive or Heavy-Duty Technician certification
Excellent technical knowledge and expertise
Exceptional diagnosing, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
Possess valid driver's license (minimum class 5) with clean abstract
Minimum 2 years of previous supervisory experience
Strong organizational, planning and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent communication and team relations skills
Sound decision making skills, with the ability to make informed judgements and handle unexpected situations or challenges
Strong computer skills (i.e. MS Outlook, MS Teams, Excel, Fleet Assist Software, etc.)
Must successfully pass pre-employment screening including road test, criminal record check, and drug & alcohol test
