The Opportunity:

Desmasdon’s construction is a turnkey cottage and home builder based in Pointe au Baril, on Georgian Bay. We specialize in building and maintaining architecturally designed custom homes that create the space where treasured memories are made.

The General Carpenter is responsible for working with the entire building process from reading plans, forming footings, framing, completing interior and exterior finishes.

To ensure success with our organization, ideally you are a craftsman who takes pride in their work. This is supported by your extensive knowledge and experience in this industry. You are reliable and punctual and possess excellent communication skills.

This is a full-time position, with competitive pay, health benefits and tool/boot allowances. Our company is committed to creating a working a culture with a strong emphasis toward health and safety and expect our team members have the same goal.

Key Responsibilities:

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Travelling on the water by boat to jobsites located on islands
Reading plans
Building forms and footings
Framing floors, walls, roofs
Installing trusses and rafters
Application of interior and exterior finishes
Roofing
Building, decks, stairs, walkways, and railings
Building Docks
General cottage maintenance tasks

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Such qualifications include, but are not limited to:

An understanding of the need for very high standards in craftsmanship
And eye for detail so that the work is carried out to that high standard
A positive attitude, and the ability to work well in a crew and deal pleasantly with customers
Able to work with minimal supervision
Able to work within the proximetry of water
Valid Ontario Driver’s Licence
Valid Pleasure Craft Operator Card
