JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join a dynamic, results-oriented team supporting operations in Canada, the United States, and potentially other international markets.
This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing financial and operational data, assisting team members, and supporting strategic business decision-making. It is a hands-on, initiative-driven position that combines technical accounting expertise with financial insight. The successful candidate will initially support core accounting functions, with increasing responsibility based on performance.
This is primarily an in-office position reporting directly to the Controller.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare monthly and annual financial reporting packages
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations (IFRS)
- Research and implement accounting processes and compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions
- Perform project tracking, including variance analysis and reporting
- Support strategic planning and financial decision-making
- Conduct cost analysis and identifying efficiencies
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve processes
- Assist in the preparation annual budgets and monitoring monthly budget variances
- Collaborate with team members and support cross-functional initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
· Experience with accounting software; Sage Intacct experience is an asset
· Strong knowledge of accounting principles
· Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas) required
· Analytical thinking, problem solving
· Attention to detail and accuracy
· Effective time management and ability to meet deadlines
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Experience with Oil and Gas service company considered an asset
· Minimum 2+ years of progressive accounting experience (intermediate level or higher)
