We are currently seeking a Tech Maintenance – Utilities (Boiler Operator) to join our Maintenance team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the reliable operation of our utility systems and supporting the safe and efficient operation of the facility.
Position Overview
The Tech Maintenance – Utilities (Boiler Operator) is responsible for the operation, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of boiler, steam, refrigeration, air conditioning, and related utility systems throughout the facility.
Working closely with the Chief Power Engineer and Maintenance team, this role helps ensure the continuous supply of critical utilities required to support production, quality, and operational requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesUtility Operations
- Operate, regulate, monitor, and shut down utility equipment as required.
- Monitor boilers, refrigeration systems, steam systems, compressed air systems, and related equipment using gauges, meters, and computerized controls.
- Ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and within established operating parameters.
- Maintain accurate operating logs and records.
- Perform water testing and chemical treatment programs to prevent corrosion and scale buildup.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and report equipment issues and operational concerns.
Maintenance & Reliability
- Perform routine preventive maintenance activities, including lubrication, filter replacement, and equipment inspections.
- Assist with repairs and maintenance activities as directed.
- Support major maintenance projects and system upgrades involving steam, refrigeration, and HVAC systems.
- Collaborate with Maintenance personnel to support plant reliability objectives.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Work safely and in accordance with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrate and promote positive safety behaviors at all times.
- Follow all KD Pharma Life Saving Rules and SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) requirements.
- Report incidents, near misses, hazards, and improvement opportunities.
- Support quality systems and report any quality deviations or non-conformances.
- Maintain all required certifications and training.
Teamwork & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Participate in training, workshops, and development opportunities.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across Safety, Quality, Maintenance, and Operations.
- Assist colleagues and other departments when operationally required.
QualificationsRequired
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 4th Class Interprovincial Power Engineer Certificate (minimum requirement).
- Knowledge of steam generation, refrigeration, HVAC, and utility systems.
- Ability to interpret operating procedures, technical documents, and P&IDs.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred
- Previous experience operating industrial boilers and utility systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with computerized control systems and process monitoring equipment.
- Additional technical training related to industrial utilities or maintenance systems.

Physical & Environmental Requirements
This role requires moderate physical activity, including:
- Walking, climbing stairs and ladders.
- Stooping, kneeling, crouching, and working in confined spaces.
- Lifting and carrying materials up to approximately 50 lbs.
- Working in industrial environments with exposure to heat, noise, vibration, dust, chemicals, and other conditions typical of a manufacturing facility.
Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
