Global Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBC’s Technology and Operations division. GFT’s impact is far-reaching as we collaborate with partners from across the company to deliver innovative and transformative IT solutions. Our clients represent Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal & Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. We also lead the development of digital tools and platforms to enhance collaboration.
Join our Corporate Real Estate & Occupancy team and take ownership of a sophisticated, multi-layered technology ecosystem. You'll architect and develop solutions that power building occupancy management, device lifecycle operations, and critical SaaS integrations across a global enterprise. In this role, you'll lead the modernization of our middleware and Python scripting infrastructure, spearhead our transition to cloud-native deployments, and help establish AI and machine learning as a core capability for our team's future growth. You'll work on-premises and cloud (OCP) environments, collaborating with different internal and external teams to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable solutions that directly impact how our organization manages real estate and workplace technology.
What will you do?

Lead vulnerability remediation initiatives, including dependency upgrades, security patching, and compliance testing; ensure all integrations meet enterprise security standards

Design, develop, and maintain middleware and Python-based integrations that orchestrate data flow between IoT devices, vendor SaaS applications, and our enterprise systems; troubleshoot issues across complex multi-vendor environments

Build foundational AI and machine learning capabilities that position our team for future growth in occupancy insights and facility optimization; architect solutions from the ground up and collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements and validate approaches

Develop and optimize RESTful APIs for internal and external integrations; design API solutions supporting enterprise workflows and identity management

Leverage strong SQL expertise to work with complex schemas and contribute to data architecture decisions

Architect and implement CI/CD automation for Python script and middleware deployment; drive containerization and cloud-native strategies on OCP

Collaborate cross-functionally with QA, Product Management, and Business Systems Analysts to define requirements, scope solutions, and deliver on enterprise initiative

Mobile application integrations for our workplace app leveraging APIs of other systems to integrate with
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have:
-
3+ years of professional software development with demonstrated expertise in at least 3 of the following: Python (advanced), Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL (complex queries, optimization, schema design)

Security-first mindset: Experience with vulnerability assessment, dependency management, secure coding practices, and compliance requirements in regulated environments
-
Strong API design and REST architecture knowledge; experience integrating with third-party SaaS platforms and designing scalable middleware solutions
-
Cloud and containerization experience: Hands-on with Docker, Kubernetes, or container orchestration; experience on OCP or equivalent on-premises cloud platforms
-
Entra ID and Active Directory familiarity; understanding of identity and access management in modern enterprise environments
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Nice-to-Have:

AI/ML foundational knowledge: Experience with machine learning frameworks (Python libraries like scikit-learn, TensorFlow) and ability to architect ML pipelines

IoT device management: Experience with lifecycle management, deployment, and configuration of edge devices or IoT ecosystems

Angular framework experience: Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks and full-stack development

Experience in large, matrix-driven organizations such as financial services or Fortune 500 companies
