Asset Information System Analyst 2 (FTR)

What you'll do
- Performs the duties of the Asset Information System Analyst 1 job : (a) Prepares training materials and delivers training
courses to end-users; (b) Delivers training and mentors team members; (c) Analyzes business requirements, prepares
reports, analyzes the results, and makes recommendations for improvements; (d) Deals directly with first and third tier
service providers such as, Fujitsu to ensure end-user problems have been resolved in a satisfactory and timely manner; (e)
Prepares and delivers end-user communication as required by business owners and technical owners; (f) Directs and
performs complex testing for application fault analysis, analyzes the results, and makes recommendations for changes; (g)
Implements complex system administration activities under the general supervision of the System Administrator using a
high security clearance; (h) Manages departmental records and documentation; (i) Manages complex business reporting
requirements using advanced reporting applications; (j) Co-ordinates the publishing of information to the intranet /
SharePoint/databases; and (k) Ensures applications, data and processes meet compliance requirements (i.e. NERC and
CIP, PCBs, etc.).
- Technical owner for Stations/Lines work management data (project costs, estimate costs, hours, etc.) and asset
management data (equipment records, equipment failure records, etc.). Researches sources of data, analyzes the
plausibility and quality of the data and where there are errors or anomalies, investigates root cause of problem, change
sources and advises IT of correct data field to be used. Ensures reports are extracting right data and report information is
correct and valid. Develops work processes and business rules to enable service providers and internal users to correctly
apply asset management support systems. Prepares and maintains various training materials and helpdesk manuals.
3. Coordinates maintenance policies and standards within the asset information system by: (a) Implementing and revising
maintenance programs/instructions within the system for all Stations/Lines equipment; and (b) Coordinating policy and
standard structure.
- Ensures applications adhere to business process requirements, meets compliance, functional and technical requirements
by: a) Pro-actively identifying and resolving business issues and, where required, providing recommendations for resolution
to management; b) Dealing directly with various business offices and staff to gather and review recommendations and
implement appropriate solutions to ensure the success of business systems.
- Is considered a Subject Matter Expert (SME) when working with a team to develop and implement new or revised
business information system applications and as such: (a) May act as a "task manager" or participate on a project team to
coordinate and facilitate changes and enhancements to existing or new applications; (b) Ensures second tier application
support personnel deliver solutions that meet agreed-to business requirements; and (c) Represents the interests of
Stations/Lines to ensure business needs are met.
- Assists in development and implementation of pilot and new computer systems for a variety of Asset Management
Services applications by liaising with other departments and outside consultants, controlling project scheduling, analyzing
and controlling project costs, resolving conflicts and approving work estimates within assigned limits. Tasks include
researching and documenting user requirements; devising alternate solutions and recommend best approach to address
issue; providing and/or collecting estimate for proposed solutions; provide assistance in business case preparation;
coordinating with system developers and users; testing new system before actual implementation; assisting in system roll-
out.
