Mechanical Project Manager responsibilities

A Mechanical Project Manager (especially in construction / HVAC / plumbing / mechanical contracting projects) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering mechanical works on time, within budget, and according to specifications. Below are the typical responsibilities:

1. Project Planning & Coordination

Review project drawings, specifications, and contracts.
Develop project schedules and milestones.
Coordinate with general contractors, consultants, engineers, and clients.
Plan manpower, materials, and equipment requirements.

2. Procurement & Subcontractor Management

Source and procure mechanical equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
Review and approve supplier quotes and purchase orders.
Ensure shop drawings and technical submittals are prepared and submitted for approval.

3. Project Execution

Oversee installation of HVAC, plumbing, gas, sheet metal, and mechanical systems.
Ensure work complies with codes, safety regulations, and project specifications.
Coordinate with other trades (electrical, structural, architectural).

4. Budget & Cost Control

Monitor project budgets and cost reports.
Manage change orders, extra work, and variations.
Track labor productivity and material costs.

5. Documentation & Communication

Manage RFIs (Requests for Information).

Job Summary

KNVA Mechanical is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to oversee mechanical construction projects including HVAC, plumbing, gas piping, and sheet metal systems in commercial, institutional, and industrial (ICI) projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects from planning to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with project specifications and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management

Manage mechanical construction projects from start-up to close-out.
Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
Develop and maintain project schedules and work plans.

Coordination & Communication

Coordinate with general contractors, consultants, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Attend site meetings and project coordination meetings.
Communicate project updates with internal management and stakeholders.

Procurement & Submittals

Manage shop drawings, submittals, and material approvals.
Procure mechanical equipment, materials, and subcontractor services.
Ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.

Cost Control & Budget Management

Track project budgets, costs, and labor productivity.
Manage change orders, extras, and project billing.
