Position: Short-Range Mine Planner (Fly-In-Fly-Out)
Salary Range: $65/hr + OT
About the Client and Role
We require an experienced Short-Range Mine Planner for our client, a mining firm with a busy operation located in Ontario. This is an Contract requirement, 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. While this starts on contract, there is a good possibility this role will roll into permanent role, however, we would prefer someone who is not presently working. We require someone with experience using Minesight and using the planning tool Atlas. Pay is $65/hr plus OT after 8 hours per day ($75.83/hr for a 12 hour day).
Main Accountabilities
- Develop detailed mine plans and forecasts, addressing critical operational factors such as equipment availability, staffing levels, and environmental compliance. Ensure plans optimize production and efficiency while prioritizing safety and cost-effectiveness.
- Work with the Chief Engineer, Superintendent, and/or Supervisors on a daily basis to ensure that engineered plans are clearly understood and executed properly. Serve as a crucial liaison between Management, Operations, Engineering, and other departments, facilitating effective communication and execution of strategies.
- Consistently update and verify the accurate implementation of mining designs, including pit walls, dumps, and infrastructure. Ensure these designs are properly staked and executed in the field to maintain operational integrity and safety.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge and thorough understanding of applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Communicate these standards to all relevant stakeholders, providing guidance and oversight to ensure compliance.
- Continuously monitor and refine mine planning processes to enhance operational efficiency, productivity, and waste management. Identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions to optimize operations.
- Support and lead improvement projects, addressing technical issues, optimizing mining operations and reducing costs.
- Gather and analyze field data to enhance operational mine planning and scheduling. Use data-driven insights to make informed decisions and improve operational practices.
Foster a culture of learning and development within the team. Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to students, peers, and colleagues, aiding in the development of their skills and understanding of mining operations and safety practices.

- Degree in Mining Engineering, or a related field.
- P.Eng. or Registered EIT working towards their P. Eng.
- Valid Driver's License
- At least 2 years' experience in an open pit mining environment.
- Proficiency with mine planning software, such as MineSight.
- Proven safety and attendance record.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
- High level of attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of effectively guiding and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
