UCSH is looking for a full time Automatic Door Technician (Commercial Door & Electronic Hardware) position. This position requires to travel to different job sites in Ottawa.
WHAT’S THE JOB ABOUT?
Reporting to the Hardware Consultant, the Automatic Door Technician (Commercial Door & Electronic Hardware) is responsible to install, integrate and service automatic door operators and electrified door hardware systems. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoy problem-solving and has a strong background in electronic systems related to access control and building security.
Some of the work you will do, but not limited to:
- Install, configure, and test automatic door operators (ADO) and related components (push plates, sensors, etc.)
- Integrate electrified door hardware (electric strikes, magnetic locks, exit devices, power supplies, etc.) with access control systems.
- Perform wiring, terminations, and troubleshooting of low-voltage electrical systems.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams to ensure proper installation.
- Conduct site surveys to assess installation requirements and prepare accurate documentation.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure seamless integration with building systems.
- Maintain detail service reports, logs and documentation for each job.
- Provide recommendations for system upgrades, replacements, and maintenance plans.
- Provide maintenance and repair services, including diagnostics and replacement of faulty components.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and manufacturer specifications.
- Respond to emergency service calls as needed.
- Well adapted to technologically included products.
- Train junior technicians and provide technical guidance as needed.
- Other duties as assigned
WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE LIKE YOU WHO HAS:
- Diploma or certification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field.
- Certificate of AAADM is a strong asset.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in automatic door installation and service.
- Extensive experience with Automatic Doors, Access Control Systems, and Sensor Technologies (Safety, Motion, and Activation sensors).
- Knowledgeable in RTLS (Real-Time Location Systems) and Anti-ligature pressure sensors / Door alarm systems.
- Experience in leading complex installations and large scale service projects.
- Strong knowledge of sliding, swinging, and commercial entrance systems.
- Proficiency with electrical systems, low-voltage wiring, sensors, and control modules (Relays)
- Ability to read and interpret Wiring Diagrams/Schematic and technical documents.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to lift heavy components and work in various site conditions.
- Familiarity of fire safety codes and building codes.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Willingness to travel to job sites.
