In this role, you will contribute to the organization’s financial strength by supporting reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management, while ensuring accuracy across project costing and development-related financing activities. Reporting directly to the Controller, you’ll assist with year-end financial statements, board reporting, and strategic initiatives, while maintaining key financial processes and supporting data-driven decision-making across the business.

You’ll make a daily impact by strengthening financial visibility and supporting strategic financial management across the business. Collaborating with the Controller and cross-functional stakeholders, you will deliver accurate reporting, support budgeting and forecasting, and ensure effective cash flow management. From overseeing project costing and financing activities to maintaining critical reporting that informs project timelines, you’ll bring structure, insight, and precision to financial operations. Your ability to manage details while keeping a broader financial perspective will help drive sound decision-making and organizational success.
What your day may look like…
- Prepare monthly financial reporting and variance analysis, ensuring completeness and accuracy of working papers
- Participate in year-end processes by assisting in the preparation of financial statement working papers, reconciliations and supporting documentation for Controller and external advisors.
- Manage job costing and coordinate project-related loan and mortgage draws for development and housing projects.
- Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure adequate funding for operational and project requirements.
- Review and ensure accuracy of key financial processes, including bank reconciliations, GST filings, and cheque runs.
- Maintain accurate construction and project status reporting to support cash forecasting and adherence to timelines.
- Assist with budgeting activities, including annual overhead budget preparation and ongoing variance tracking.
- Partner with the Controller on financing requests, board reporting materials, and special projects to support strategic initiatives.
What you’ll bring…
- Professional accounting designation.
- Minimum of 5 years of finance and accounting experience. 3-5 years of experience in real estate, home building and/or a land development organization is an asset.
- Comprehensive understanding of ERP accounting software systems, including but not limited to Microsoft Dynamics SL, BuildTopia and Sage 50.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas.
- Strong understanding of ASPE and experience in full cycle accounting. Prior experience utilizing REALPAC is an asset.
- Detail oriented professional with the ability to work independently, utilize problem solving skills and manage multiple overlapping deadlines. Excellent analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Team player who is willing to help in all areas as needed.
