Breast Centre Technologist Mammography

To support us on our journey, St Michael's Hospital is looking for a Breast Imaging Technologist to support our Mammography team. The department features state-of-the-art digital technology and a team of innovative staff dedicated to patient care and superb image quality, backed by a commitment to continuing education and quality assurance program initiatives. The Breast Imaging Department is a Mammography Accredited Centre with The Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR), and is an Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) site. The Medical Radiation Technologist - Mammography will report to the Breast Imaging Supervisor and adhere to respective institutional policies and procedures.
We are seeking a full-time Mammography Technologist to work 12-hour shifts every Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and every third Monday. This “Weekend Warrior” position offers extended weekend hours in exchange for fewer total workdays each week, providing you with more days off to enjoy.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Performs and assesses radiographic procedures to produce imaging, and high quality diagnostic radiographs via practice of radiation safety procedures and adherence to a strict code of aseptic techniques.
- Provides optimum patient care and demonstrates a professional manner in the work setting.
- Actively participates in team building concepts, and development of departmental goals.
- Operates and maintains equipment via participation in Quality Control and Quality Assurance tests.
- Assists, instructs, and educates patients prior to, during, and after procedure.
- Demonstrating an ongoing commitment to continuing education that meets CAR and hospital requirements
- Participating in related teaching and performing duties related to the job classification, as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current registration and in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) and fulfilling the annual quality assurance requirements, as per CMRITO
- Current membership with the CAMRT preferred
- Successful completion of Mammography 1 and 2 certificates from the CAMRT
- Completion of over 15 hours of continuing education in Mammography within the past 3 years and a commitment to ongoing continuing education that meets CAR and hospital requirements
- Completion of a BCLS program within the past 12 months or has current Level II: Basic Rescuer Certification
- Previous Breast Imaging working experience, demonstrating knowledge and experience in Digital Radiography and digital equipment quality control
- Previous working experience at an OBSP Facility, including experience in performing OBSP digital quality control required
- Previous working experience at a CAR Mammography Accredited Facility and is a CAR Mammography approved member required
- Proven ability to prioritize and communicate respectfully within a supportive team environment
- Demonstrate strong technical skills, ability to multi-task, and ability to use good judgment to ensure work is performed in the best interest and safety of the patient and the team
- Ability to work accurately, safely, and efficiently in a busy, high patient volume setting; flexible and adaptable with the ability to accommodate unexpected situations while maintaining excellent image quality
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communications skills, including relevant and accurate clinical documentation
- Proven ability to learn new skills, adapt to process changes and participate in teaching new staff and students
- Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, to ensure efficient email management and to maintain department and hospital communication on a daily basis
HOURS: 7:30 am -7:30 pm Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and every Third Monday.
