The Issues and Events team provides governance and oversight over the management of Risk Events and Issues to ensure adherence with Enterprise requirements.
The Capital One Canada Risk Office is responsible for managing and executing risk management activities, such as: risk assessment programs, risk event governance, controls governance, and controls testing.
The Issues and Events Senior Risk Associate will be responsible for developing strategies to reduce Issue and Event volumes, developing strategies to improve Issue and Event management, and partnering with business teams to ensure adherence with Enterprise requirements
Develop and maintain deep subject matter expertise on all applicable Enterprise Risk Management Standards
Maintain knowledge of Issues and Events across Capital One Canada
Maintain a deep understanding of Issues and Events data
Collaborate with business partners to ensure ongoing adherence with Enterprise Risk Management requirements
Build and nurture relationships with other division risk offices to ensure continued learning and growth for the Canada Risk Office
Provide training and coaching for Issue and Event managers to ensure ongoing compliance with Enterprise Risk Management Standards
Develop strategies to improve Issue and Event Management
Develop strategies to reduce Issue and Event volumes
Establish and maintain strong relationships with Compliance Advisory, Legal, and the business
Participate in, lead, and/or execute other risk management initiatives for the team as assigned
Prepare accurate and high-quality reports and briefing materials appropriate to a senior management audience
Remain current on risk management trends, best practices, and guidelines issued by applicable regulatory bodies and the industry
At least 3 years of experience working in Risk Management, Audit, Enterprise Risk Management, Operational Risk Management, Compliance, etc.
Familiarity with applicable Canadian regulators (OSFI, OPC, FCAC) and regulations that apply to a credit card business
A solid understanding of risk management and governance principles and familiarity with the processes and controls that govern these activities (i.e., three lines of defense model and risk framework principles)
Demonstrated business maturity with the ability to effectively communicate with and influence stakeholders within all levels of the organization, establish and maintain positive relationships
Exceptional communication and influence skills to drive action
Demonstrated ability to hold others accountable
The ability to distill complex information into a clear and concise narrative
Superior writing and editing skills with the ability to construct well-founded, clear, and concise analyses and recommendations
The ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects and deliverables
Solid analytical and investigative skills
Experience in preparing and writing business documents (i.e., presentations for leadership meetings or forums, briefing memos, and reports)
Experience in process or project management
A Bachelor’s degree or higher
Relevant certification or accreditation in Compliance, Risk Management, Legal, or other related fields
Familiarity of a credit card business, practices, and operations

The expected annual salary range for this position is $94,800 to $108,200. This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
