Tomlinson Environmental Services Ltd. (“TES”) is currently seeking an Operations Manager to oversee the operations of its site located in Kingston, ON. Reporting to the General Manager, this role focuses on measuring, communicating and optimizing the productivity of the business unit.
The role will work closely with our Environmental Processing Manager, our operations staff, and alongside our supervisors to ensure accurate operational data is being captured allowing KPI’s to be developed and communicated back to the team on a daily basis. This role requires a logistical background, strong leadership talent, data analysis skills and business acumen. This position will also help grow and develop the technical and leadership skills of the operations staff.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
At a high level, the Operations Manager is responsible for:
- Optimizing & balancing requirements of available resources including the utilization of the fleet and associated equipment.
- Communicate with fellow Managers to maximize the sharing of resources across all of TES and RWT
- Generating, tracking, analyzing and communicating KPIs on a daily basis.
- Managing the day-to-day responsibilities of the operations team and holding people accountable for their actions

- Promote, maintain & reinforce highest possible safety standards including actively participating in CoR processes, documentation and other requirements as necessary.
- Optimize asset utilization through planning, analysis and communication.
- Generate, manage, and monitor performance KPI’s on a daily basis as well as coach team members on how to analyze and interpret KPI’s
- Work with the General Manager and operations staff to optimize scheduling/routing.
- Interact with customers and service providers as required to develop service & technical solutions
- Seek productivity improvements, provide recommendations and implement actions applicable to staff & resources
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, create development plans and perform employee evaluations with direct reports
- Defines direct reports’ performance goals and ensure alignment with overall corporate goals.
- Provide employees with coaching, mentoring and conflict resolution to drive employee engagement
- Ability to use in-depth company and industry knowledge to assist with complex proposals and make recommendations
- Work closely with the General Manager & Business Development team to set and/or implement pricing strategies, policies, procedures, and systems and also to provide assistance necessary to respond to RFPs/tenders & special events
- Maintaining industry expertise, knowledge, innovation, and organization across relevant areas
- Attend financial meetings if and as required

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Office environment, long periods of sitting may be required
- Visiting various employee work sites on occasion
- Ability and willingness to work at multiple sites
COMPENSATION INFORMATION
The expected salary range for this position is $90,000 - $120,000 annually. Placement within that range is dependent on a variety of factors including qualifications and experience.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 8 or more years’ experience in operations management including 5+ years in a supervisory role, contributing to planning and strategy implementation
- Proven leadership, communications, and employee development skills
- Demonstrated ability to interface with clients and third parties in a positive, solution-driven approach
- Positive attitude towards & prior experience with process improvement
- Ability to recognize achieved goals and performance
- Ability to motivate employees
