Context:
We are looking for a highly motivated Junior Power BI Data Analyst to join our dynamic reporting and analytics team supporting a major infrastructure program. This role will be central to evolving and maintaining a suite of Power BI dashboards that provide strategic insights into scheduling performance across large-scale capital projects. The ideal candidate will be passionate about turning complex data into meaningful visuals and driving business decisions through data.
You will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, ranging from Scheduling, Project Controls to Digital Transformation teams to enable reliable, scalable, and insightful reporting. This is an exciting opportunity to work on one of the most advanced reporting platforms within a growing portfolio of infrastructure initiatives.
This role will focus on sustaining the current reporting environment, including interdependent dashboards, Power Query transformations, and SharePoint-integrated dataflows. At the same time, the analyst will help lay the groundwork for transitioning toward a more centralized, automated, model-driven reporting solution in future phases.
Missions/Main Duties:
- Report Maintenance and Optimization
-
Maintain and enhance existing Power BI dashboards used for schedule forecasting, variance analysis, historical trending.

Optimize report performance through improvements to Power Query/M Query transformations, DAX calculations, drill-throughs, bookmarks, field parameters, etc.

Work closely with Project Controls, Scheduling, and Digital teams to clarify reporting requirements and support ad hoc updates.

Troubleshoot data and visualization issues (refreshes) to ensure ongoing report reliability.

Strong UI/UX principles when designing dashboards including layout hierarchy, visual clarity, accessibility and interactive navigation.

Data Modeling and Transformation

Support updates to semantic models aligned to evolving reporting requirements.

Maintain and enhance data models using star schema principles to support scalable and performant reporting.

Maintain dataflows and queries connecting Excel, SharePoint, and Power BI Service sources.

Assist in validating and reconciling schedule data against source systems such as Primavera (P6)

Reporting Automation Enablement

Contribute to the planning and gradual shift toward a model-driven, centralized schedule reporting architecture

Automation of current workflows to support dashboard integration of new and ongoing developments

Provide documentation and knowledge transfer to support long-term reporting automation goals.
Profile/Skills:

3-5+ years of experience building and maintaining reports in Power BI (Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service).

Hands-on experience with Power Query (M) for data transformation and cleansing.

Solid knowledge of DAX and report performance optimization techniques.

Experience working with SharePoint Online, Excel-based source data, Power BI Dataflows and Microsoft Fabric Data Warehouses.

Exposure to Power Apps or interest in learning how to integrate low-code apps with Power BI for enhanced user experiences.

Understanding of project controls concepts, especially around schedule management, forecasting and variance analysis.

Comfortable working with structured and unstructured datasets, performing data validation, and reconciling reporting outputs.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and data accuracy.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interface with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Salary Range for this role is between CAD 80,000 - CAD 95,000.
