Position Summary
The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer is responsible for the design, review, implementation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems. The role supports projects from concept through commissioning by developing specifications, reviewing supplier deliverables, generating engineering documentation, supporting procurement activities, and ensuring compliance with applicable standards and quality requirements.
The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with industrial control systems, PLCs, HMI/SCADA platforms, motor control systems, instrumentation, electrical panels, and process automation within manufacturing or process industries.

Responsibilities
Electrical Engineering:
- Create, modify, and maintain electrical drawings using AutoCAD Electrical
- Review and define electrical requirements for projects and plant modifications.
- Develop basic electrical specifications for equipment suppliers and contractors.
- Generate and maintain:
- Motor Lists
- Instrument Lists
- I/O Lists
- Cable Schedules
- Equipment Datasheets
- Review electrical single-line diagrams, control schematics, panel layouts, and wiring drawings.
- Perform electrical design reviews and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Support power distribution, motor control, VFD, MCC, and control panel design activities.
Instrumentation & Controls:
- Develop and maintain Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Specify and select instrumentation including:
- Flow meters
- Pressure transmitters
- Temperature instruments
- Level instruments
- Control valves
- Review instrumentation installation drawings and loop diagrams.
- Develop and maintain instrumentation databases and documentation.
- Support calibration, commissioning, and validation activities.
Automation & PLC Systems:
- Develop, test, troubleshoot, and modify PLC programs.
- Configure and test PLC hardware and I/O systems.
- Create and maintain PLC documentation.
- Conduct FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing).
- Troubleshoot automation and process control issues.
- Support system upgrades and modernization projects.
HMI / SCADA Development:
- Configure, test, and troubleshoot HMI and SCADA systems.
- Modify and improve HMI screens, alarms, trends, and operator interfaces.
- Support commissioning and optimization of automation systems.
- Maintain system backups and version control documentation.
Supplier & Project Support:
- Prepare technical specifications and scope documents for suppliers.
- Review supplier quotations and technical submissions.
- Review vendor drawings, datasheets, and documentation.
- Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Support project execution from design through commissioning.
Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC):
- Review electrical and instrumentation installations for compliance with project requirements.
- Conduct inspections and verify workmanship standards.
- Support commissioning and startup activities.
- Ensure all project documentation is accurate, complete, and properly maintained.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance Support:
- Troubleshoot electrical panels, instrumentation, PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and control systems.
- Provide root cause analysis and corrective action recommendations.
- Support maintenance teams during equipment failures and plant shutdowns.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to improve reliability and performance.
Position Specific Abilities
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is considered an asset.
- 5+ years of experience in industrial electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems.
- Experience in manufacturing, process industries, water/wastewater, food & beverage, mining, or chemical processing environments preferred.
- Experience managing projects from design through commissioning is an asset.

- Ability and willingness to travel internationally -Since international travel is a requirement, you must have a valid passport, and be eligible to gain unlimited entry into foreign countries and continents, including USA, South America, Asia, and Europe.
