Rate of Pay: $17.60 per hour, 35 hours per week x 8 weeks

This may be the position for you! BBBSG is seeking an experienced, creative and results-oriented individual to assume a temporary summer position with its Resource Development team. You are a strong communicator and collaborator who works closely with BBBSG’s staff, volunteers and community stakeholders to successfully execute fundraising initiatives that raise critical resources for the organization, ensuring the sustainability of mentoring programs.
The Fundraising Campaign Assistant is responsible for developing and executing a summer initiative, the “Little Change for BIG Change” community fundraising campaign. This campaign involves local businesses soliciting for charitable donations to our agency through point-of-sale systems or in-store cash boxes, and other community members supporting our agency through other cash or in-kind donations.

A day in the life of a Fundraising Campaign Assistant involves:
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with community partners
- Working closely with the fundraising team
- Thinking innovatively of ways community partners can get involved with the campaign
- Assisting with the recruitment of volunteers for campaign TAG days
- Working toward achieving personal and agency goals
- Participating in staff socials and engagements with the BBBSG team
Position Responsibilities
Reporting to the Fund Development Coordinator, the Fundraising Campaign Assistant will be responsible for the tasks including:
- Assist in planning, execution and evaluation of BBBSG’s Little Change for Big Change (LCBC) Campaign
- Communicate with businesses to secure their participation in the campaign
- Create a new fundraising project to include in the LCBC campaign (past years have included lemonade stand competitions, paint nights, and bottle drives)
- Provide support with community relations/promotions
- Assist with social media promotion and marketing
- Maintain communication with participating organizations by phone, email, or text
- Undertake office tasks such as photocopying and data entry
- This position will require both remote work and in-office work
Note: This position may require some evening and/or weekend work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary student (or mature secondary student), with focus on Marketing, Volunteer Management or Project Coordination and preferably with some experience
- Strong computer skills: word processing, email and Internet systems, working in a MS Office environment; experience with graphic design considered an asset
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and assume responsibility with minimal supervision
- Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills
- Interest and knowledge of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guelph
- Resourceful, creative and detail oriented
- Excellent telephone manner and speaking voice
- Experience working with social media tools, including Facebook, Instagram
- Have access to a vehicle
This position is funded by the Ministry of Employment and Social Development through Canada Summer Jobs. As such, the following is required of the applicant:
- Be between 15-30 years of age, at the start of the funded position.
- Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or someone to whom Refugee Status has been granted/conferred.
- Have a valid SIN
- International students, and those who are here in Canada on a work, youth, or visitor visa/permit are not eligible for the program.
