Do you label your road cases, coil your cables properly, and notice a dead fixture before anyone else does?
Can you troubleshoot a DMX issue under pressure, build a show file fast, and still keep the crew laughing at 2:00 AM load-out?
If so, Orange Frog Productions Inc. is looking for someone like you to join our team as a Senior Lighting Technician.
At Orange Frog Productions Inc., we create high-impact live event experiences through lighting, production, staging, and technical execution. From corporate events and concerts to galas and large-scale productions, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional experiences while building a team culture that is hardworking, adaptable, collaborative, and genuinely fun to be part of.
We are growing quickly and are looking for an experienced Senior Lighting Technician who can lead from the front, think on their feet, and help elevate the standard of production excellence our clients have come to expect.
The Position
You will play a key role in our lighting department, supporting live events, installs, prep, programming, maintenance, and on-site execution. You’ll work closely with project managers, crew leads, and clients to bring creative visions to life while ensuring technical accuracy and operational efficiency.
Specifically, as a Senior Lighting Technician, you will:
- Program and operate lighting systems for live events using GrandMA3, Chamsys and other lighting consoles.
- Lead lighting crews during shop prep, load-ins, show execution, and load-outs.
- Interpret lighting plots, signal flow, patching, and production documentation following OFPI standards.
- Build, test, troubleshoot, and maintain intelligent lighting systems, dimming, networking, and control infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot technical issues quickly and calmly under pressure.
- Collaborate with production managers, audio, video, staging, and venue teams to ensure seamless event execution.
- Support shop operations and contribute to improving workflow efficiencies and standards.
- Mentor junior technicians and help develop a strong, positive crew culture.
- Adapt to changing show requirements, schedules, and event environments.
- Act as the safety officer on site.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, thrives in fast-paced environments, and genuinely enjoys live production. Someone who notices the details others miss, communicates clearly, and understands that great shows are built by great teams.
Specifically, you will have the following skills and attributes:
- You strive for excellence because “good enough” is not how you operate.
- You are calm under pressure and can solve problems quickly and professionally.
- You have strong leadership skills and can confidently lead crews on-site.
- You are organized, efficient, and proactive.
- You are a confident and respected leader who thrives managing and motivating large crews in fast-paced live event environments, maintaining professionalism, efficiency, accountability, and strong team morale under pressure.
- You communicate clearly and work well with clients, vendors, venues, and teammates.
- You understand live event environments and the importance of timing, preparation, and adaptability.
- You take ownership and accountability for your work.
- You are technically minded and enjoy troubleshooting systems and equipment.
- You are dependable, hardworking, and willing to jump in wherever needed.
- You are collaborative, positive, and contribute to a strong team environment.
- You are adaptable and comfortable working evenings, weekends, and long event days when required.
- You genuinely love lighting and console programming — the kind of person who enjoys being behind a console so much, you’d probably still be building show files and experimenting with looks even in your spare time.
- You are a little obsessed with clean cable runs, proper labeling, and organized workboxes — and we appreciate that.
Additional Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of professional live event lighting experience.
- Strong experience operating and programming GrandMA3/Chamsys consoles.
- Experience with intelligent fixtures, DMX/ACN/Art-Net networking, rigging practices, and show systems.
- Ability to read lighting plots, signal flow diagrams, and production paperwork.
- Experience with lighting equipment maintenance and repair is considered a strong asset.
- Valid driver’s license required; experience driving 5 ton trucks is required.
- Ability to lift and move production equipment safely.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced event environments with changing priorities.
- Experience in corporate events, concerts, festivals, and live productions preferred.
- Assist with repairs, and maintenance considered an asset.
