Principal Architect – AI Enablement | Full Stack Systems | Azure
Position Type: Full-time, permanent
Location: Concord, ON, Hybrid 4 days/week in-person
Compensation: $CAD 160k-170k
A confidential organization is seeking a senior, hands-on technology leader to drive enterprise architecture, full-stack engineering, and AI enablement initiatives. Reporting to the CIO, this role will lead the design and delivery of scalable web and AI platforms while building and operationalizing an AI Center of Excellence (CoE). This is a hybrid role combining architecture leadership with active software development and technical ownership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead full-stack engineering teams and own the lifecycle of enterprise web and AI applications
- Define and evolve technical and solution architecture across cloud and application platforms
- Establish engineering standards including CI/CD, testing, observability, and secure development practices
- Design and deliver AI-enabled applications and integrate LLM-based solutions into production systems
- Build and govern the AI CoE, including standards for AI usage, prompt engineering, and reusable frameworks
- Translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and cost-effective technical solutions
- Provide hands-on technical leadership and escalation support for critical systems
- Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and enterprise governance standards
Required Experience
- 7+ years in software engineering with experience in senior engineering or architecture roles
- Strong technical proficiency with Azure, Databricks, Asp.Net, Angular, Sql Server, -Next.js, Node.js, Python and modern web application frameworks.
- Proven experience designing scalable cloud architectures on Microsoft Azure (App Services, Functions, Key Vault, Entra ID)
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and observability frameworks
- Demonstrated experience integrating LLMs or AI services into production applications
- Strong understanding of system design, architecture patterns, and scalable distributed systems
- Experience working in Agile environments and leading technical teams
Preferred Experience
- Experience building or leading an AI Center of Excellence
- Databricks or modern data platform experience
- Enterprise architecture and governance experience
- Strong stakeholder engagement and business-facing communication skills
