Griffith Island Club is a private, non-profit retreat nestled in the beautiful Georgian Bay, Ontario. Since 1973, we’ve welcomed a close-knit community of Members, their families, and guests to enjoy a unique island experience.
We’re currently looking for a Seasonal Staff Cook / Cover Cook (April–December) to join our culinary team. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, this is a fantastic opportunity to work in a one-of-a-kind setting while contributing to a supportive and dynamic team environment. The post requires that you are committed to living ‘on island’ on a rotational basis.
As our Staff Cook, you’ll play an important role in keeping our team energized and well fed. You’ll rotate through the staff canteen, preparing fresh, balanced, and satisfying meals for our team, from breakfast through dinner, including break time offerings.
You’ll collaborate closely with the Executive Chef and have the chance to bring creativity and passion to your cooking, especially if you enjoy working with seasonal and game inspired dishes (pheasant and venison).
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys a hands on kitchen environment, values teamwork, and is excited by the idea of working in a scenic, close-knit island community.
Schedule
- Seasonal: April to December
- Rotational: Typically 7 days on / 7 days off (some flexibility, including 9 on / 5 off)
- On-island accommodation and meals provided
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook daily staff meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
- Assist with menu planning and food prep
- Maintain inventory and reduce waste
- Keep kitchen clean and compliant with food safety standards
Requirements
- 2+ years cooking experience preferred
- Experience in private clubs or with game meats (venison, pheasant, partridge) is an asset
- Comfortable working in a remote, team-based environment
- Positive attitude and passion for food
