Full job description

Company is seeking an Entry Level Drafter in our Calgary, AB office to provide estimating and administrative support to the Project Management teams·

Company has built a solid reputation around Southern Alberta. Company offers a challenging and rewarding business atmosphere to those who value teamwork, integrity and diversity. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, a solid understanding of steel fabrication processes, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, project managers, and fabricators.

Experience with AutoCAD is preferred
Possess good verbal, written, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Strong attention to detail
Initiative to learn and take on new responsibilities.
Qualified candidates should have some experience reading structural and architectural drawings
Team Player
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams

Qualifications:

Associate’s degree or certification in drafting, engineering technology, or related field (preferred)
2+ years of experience in structural steel drafting
Experience in AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, or similar drafting software
Strong understanding of steel fabrication and erection processes
Ability to read and interpret construction documents and blueprints
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities:

Complete administrative tasks and manage documentation associated with specific projects.
Carry out cost estimates and complete proposals for new opportunities.
Issue work orders to the manufacturing team & track manufacturing progress.
Treat all customers, internal and external, with respect, courtesy and integrity.
Maintain effective relations with the project management and manufacturing teams through an excellent attitude, good knowledge, efficient work practices and proper documentation.
