Full job description

Job Summary

We are a boutique employment law firm in downtown Toronto seeking a Legal Assistant with litigation experience to join our team on a 12–18 contract. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment and enjoys supporting lawyers with complex files.

Key Responsibilities

Provide administrative and legal support to lawyers
Draft, proofread, and format legal documents (pleadings, motion records, affidavits, mediation materials)
Manage files from opening to closing
Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court offices
Coordinate calendars, schedule meetings, and book court appearances
Track deadlines and maintain bring-forward systems
Assist with reception and incoming calls as needed

Requirements

3+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant (litigation preferred)
Knowledge of Rules of Civil Procedure, Small Claims Court Rules, and HRTO processes
Strong organizational and time management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
Legal Assistant, Law Clerk, or Paralegal diploma required
