Position Summary:
WestJet is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join the Operations Control Centre (OCC), leading high-impact Disruption Management initiatives. This role is ideal for a driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced, complex operational environment and consistently delivers results while navigating operational challenges.
As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead complex, cross-functional projects that span business, operational, and technology domains. You will play a key role in advancing strategic initiatives that enhance disruption response capabilities, partnering across the organization to define clear objectives, align stakeholders, and ensure successful delivery.
You will be accountable for end-to-end project execution—ensuring initiatives are delivered on time, on budget, and on scope—while also driving measurable business outcomes. This includes building and leading high-performing, cross-functional teams and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Success in this role requires strong leadership without formal authority. You are highly skilled at influencing and aligning stakeholders at all levels, leveraging relationships to drive progress and remove barriers. You excel at problem-solving in ambiguous situations and are adept at facilitating constructive dialogue, resolving conflict, and achieving win-win outcomes with minimal escalation.

Key deliverables include:
- Effectively collaborate with cross-functional, cross-organization teams to negotiate and integrate project plans, secure commitments on deliverables, and resolve blocking issues.
- Identify, track and manage project dependencies to ensure optimal utilization of resources, ongoing risk identification and timely benefits realization on the project level.
- Cultivate relationships to provide project leadership and communicate vision and strategy in a high matrix environment.
- Manage conflict in larger groups and quickly build strong relationships with team members and key stakeholders in a remote environment.
- Ensure organizational alignment and documentation on scope, schedule, quality benefits and define, implement and monitor appropriate controls to proactively deal with barriers to completion.
- Identify stakeholders and manage at varying levels within the organization, tailoring your style and approach to meet their needs.
- Actively engage with teams from business case development through project delivery to ensure project optimization and alignment with strategy.
- Communicate at various levels, from senior business stakeholders to subject matter experts (business and technology) in designing and developing solutions to meet business needs.
- Actively engage with business areas to ensure access to knowledgeable personnel and execution of project planning and organizational governance.
- Ensure your project establishes a baseline and delivers on the commitment and benefits and establishes metrics to proactively identify areas of risk and allow planning for mitigation.
Experience & qualifications:
- 10+ years of direct Project Management experience with increasing complexity.
- Highly motivated, passionate, persuasive, and capable of quickly establishing credibility in launching and managing projects to both aid in the airline’s recovery and enhance our guest’s experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science or another relevant field. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
- Highly proficient in MS Project and O365 product suite.
- A background in heavily regulated and operational environments is preferred.
- PMP Certification is strongly preferred, but not required.
- Industry recognized certifications, specifically in Change Management (PROSCI) or Agile considered an asset.
