Full job description

Givens Machine Systems is currently seeking applications for a Senior PLC Programmer (5 or more years experience). The bulk of the work required is programming, often with Toyopuc PLC for Toyota assembly plants across Canada and United States. We also routinely run projects that will use, Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs.

We build machines needing controls and complete all wiring and electrical drawings required in house. All mechanical design and fabrication is done in house as well. We provide turnkey solutions to our customers. You would be responsible to meet with the customer and various departments internally and then come up with a program, usually based on an older, similar program from that customer. You would also help commission the machine and debug on site. You would occasionally complete panel building as well as install field wiring on the machine.

Our products range from industrial cranes & manipulators, to custom machinery, conveyors, toque tools and fixturing. In addition to electrical work, the candidate must be willing to work with pneumatic, hydraulic & mechanical projects. There are also ongoing R&D projects that require controls expertise.

You would be working alongside another two experienced programmers, several electricians, technologists and panel builders.

Health and Dental Benefits package is available after 3 months; a pension plan begins after 1 year.

Work is usually straight days with weekends off, but weekend work and overtime occur from time to time. Because our workload varies constantly, overloads are handled with overtime.
