WHERE YOU'LL BE WORKING

Ross Video is a world leader in high-definition video production equipment, designed and manufactured in Canada and sold world-wide. Our products are used by a who's who of the global entertainment industry, including top broadcast networks like NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox in the USA; Rogers, CTV and the CBC in Canada; Al Jazeera, BBC, and others around the world. We are #1 in providing behind-the-scenes production gear used in sports stadiums across the MLB, NBA, NHL and NFL. Our equipment has been used extensively at the recent Olympic games. Our systems are used by top musical acts including Springsteen, Metallica, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift to name a few. Top webcasters like Revision 3, Everyday Astronaut, and MLB.com use Ross. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Working in a development team at the Ottawa Research and Development facility, the successful candidate will experience first-hand the highs and lows of real software development while working with top-level developers and managers. You might be working on our flagship product line; you might be working on the world's premiere video production automation system; you might be working on our newest next-gen equipment. We use a variety of languages and technologies; and your skills, interests and areas of expertise will help determine the best area in which you’ll focus.

Specifically, you’ll assist the Hyperconverged Solutions (HCS) product team with software development tasks, including UI and/or Embedded systems programming. A variety of different languages and technologies are used, providing opportunities for interested candidates with a variety of different backgrounds.

This is a work from home position, with the option to come on-site if preferred. Our pay rates range from $24 - $35 per hour, based on experience.

WHAT YOU KNOW

Currently enrolled in Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science at the Intermediate level with co-op option. Academic performance must meet NSERC requirements (B average or above)
Programming experience, ideally in one or more of the following languages C++, Java, Go
Other desirable skills or areas of interest, considered a plus:
- Unix/Linux command line tools and scripts
- Python scripting
- HTML and JavaScript based Web Page development
- Databases (e.g. SQL, Redis etc.)

You enjoy new technical challenges and are excited at the prospect of writing code for actual shipping products. Tasks can range from creating custom-built software applications helping to tweak existing practices and designs. Big or small, you’re up for the job.

You like people. Knowledge is all around you, and you know that finding and talking to the right people is the way to get things done.
You recognize that communication skills are as important as technical skills.
