Career Contacts is supporting our client, a community-focused organization, in hiring a Manager, People (Bilingual) for a 1-year, mat leave coverage contract, with possibility of extension or permanency. Reporting to the Senior Manager, People, the Manager, People serves as a trusted advisor across the organization, leading employee relations, supporting performance and growth conversations, and providing trauma-informed coaching to leaders and employees. This role plays a key leadership function through influence and partnership, ensuring people practices are fair, consistent, and aligned with organizational values.
Grounded in culturally sensitive and trauma-informed approaches, this role supports complex and sensitive workplace situations with care, respect, and accountability. The Manager, People helps leaders navigate employee relations matters in a way that promotes trust, dignity, psychological safety, and growth across the organization.

Job Type: Full-time, 1-year term (maternity leave coverage with possibility of extension or permanency)
Location: Remote (anywhere in Canada)
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (standard business hours)
Compensation: $36.06 - $43.27 per hour

Responsibilities:
- Lead employee relations matters including performance concerns, progressive discipline, workplace conflict, policy interpretation, and sensitive employee situations
- Provide trauma-informed coaching to leaders to support respectful, culturally aware, and effective conversations
- Guide leaders through complex employee relations issues using balanced, fair, and consistent approaches
- Identify root causes of workplace challenges and support the development of action plans and follow-up strategies
- Act as a trusted advisor and resource for employees navigating workplace concerns
- Foster psychologically safe, respectful, and inclusive work environments
- Embed trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices into People & Culture processes and interactions
- Provide guidance on employment legislation and HR best practices across the employee lifecycle
- Develop, refine, and support the implementation of HR policies ensuring clarity, fairness, and consistency
- Ensure compliant documentation and adherence to organizational and legislative standards
Requirements:
- 8+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, with a strong focus on employee relations
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Working proficiency in both English and French (written and spoken) is required
- Experience working with or alongside Indigenous communities, with understanding of cultural context and history
- Strong knowledge of multi-jurisdictional employment standards and human rights legislation across Canada
- Demonstrated experience coaching leaders and supporting complex employee relations cases
- Strong conflict resolution, communication, and advisory skills in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in community-based or mission-driven organizations is considered a strong asset
- Successful candidates will be required to complete a Criminal Record Check as a condition of employment
