DESCRIPTION

Join a fast-paced team building intelligence capabilities that will transform how customers interact with Alexa. As a Software Development Engineer II, you'll work on technology that enables natural, intuitive experiences across multiple device types.

Key job responsibilities
You are an autonomous software engineer who thrives in ambiguity and can make sound architectural decisions. You have strong skills in distributed systems and full-stack development are essential, along with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

You will:

Design and implement scalable systems for real-time processing and multimodal AI integration
Build core components of a horizontal capability that powers visual understanding across Amazon's device ecosystem
Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end customer experiences
Solve complex technical challenges in distributed systems, real-time processing, and API design

A day in the life
You'll work on high-impact projects that directly shape upcoming product launches. This role offers the opportunity to tackle Amazon's hardest technical problems while building technology that will fundamentally change how people interact with AI assistants. You'll collaborate with talented engineers, ML scientists, and product teams in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
3+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, basic life & AD&D insurance), Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and other resources to improve health and well-being.
