Full job description

Please Note:

If you are not located in Ontario, Canada, please do not apply.

Key Responsibilities

Operate manual lathes to machine and fabricate components according to engineering drawings and blueprints.
Set up machines and tools, following established machine shop procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Read and interpret technical drawings/blueprints to determine machining requirements.
Communicate effectively with CNC programmers to coordinate workflow and resolve technical issues.
Use measuring equipment and tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges) to verify dimensions and tolerances.
Troubleshoot and solve machining problems as they arise, ensuring high-quality output.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety procedures and company policies.
Lift and secure work parts weighing up to 20 lbs as required for machine setup and operation.

Qualifications

Proven experience operating manual lathes in a machine shop environment.
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
Knowledge of machine setup, tool setup, and general machine shop procedures.
Effective communication skills, especially in collaborating with CNC programmers and other team members.
Familiarity with measuring equipment and precision tools.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
Physical ability to lift 20 lbs and secure heavy work parts as needed.
