As a Swamper, you will play a crucial role in various construction projects, utilizing your expertise to ensure that tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.

Purpose

The role of the Skilled Labourer (Swamper) is to assist the Operator in the completion of a pile installation project from beginning to end, ensuring all customer requirements are met. The Skilled Laborer (Swamper) is to assist with all types of pile installations including helical screw piles, driven piles, CFA piles and bored piles. The Skilled Laborer (Swamper) reports directly to the Operator to assure standards of safety and quality are consistently met and exceeded.

Duties

Operate various skid steers and loaders to unload, organize and layout helical screw piles and other tools and materials
Assist the excavator operator with the installation of helical screw piles to ensure compliance with pile location
Carry out all rigging operations
Ensure that all only certified gear is used during lifting operations
Operate company vehicles and equipment according to operating manuals and legal requirements
Clean, lubricate and fuel equipment
Care for and maintain company vehicles and equipment
Practice proper, legal load securement
Participate in ongoing hazard assessments, daily toolbox meetings and complete safety documentation and paperwork as per company policy
Ensure safety fences, pylons or other safety markings are in place when required
Complete general site housekeeping duties
Maintain positive public image of the company with appropriate personal conduct and by operating company vehicles and equipment in a professional and courteous manner
Adhere to all company policies and procedures in relation to both safety and quality

Experience

Proven experience in heavy equipment operation is essential.
6+ months of oilsands experience is a mandatory
Prior piling experience is an asset
Mechanical aptitude
Familiarity with loader operation, and skid steer operation is mandatory.
Experience in commercial driving is a plus.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
A valid driver's license and a cell phone is required

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma
Alberta Class 5 (or higher) driver’s license, driving abstract that contains no more than 5 demerit points and 1 collision
CSTS 09 or CSTS 2020 (All other training after this will be supplied and paid for by McMurray Piling

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Sitting and standing for extended periods of time
Travelling away from home for extended periods of time unless you are from Fort McMurray then you are home every night.

Working conditions contingent on weather
