Position Summary
The Cabinetmaker is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and supporting the finishing of high-quality custom cabinetry and millwork for residential kitchen and bath projects. The ideal candidate has strong shop experience, reads drawings accurately, works independently, and keeps a clean, organized, safety-conscious workspace.
This role suits someone with strong hands-on cabinetmaking experience, close attention to detail, and a commitment to consistently high-quality work.
Key Responsibilities
· Build and assemble custom cabinetry, vanities, built-ins, and millwork to specification
- Interpret and work from shop drawings, cut lists, and production plans
- Measure, cut, machine, edge, fit, and assemble components accurately
- Operate woodworking machinery and hand tools safely and efficiently
- Ensure all parts and finished pieces meet standards for fit, function, and finish
- Work with a variety of materials including plywood, MDF, melamine, hardwood, veneers, laminates, and hardware
- Install and fit drawers, doors, hinges, slides, pull-outs, and specialty hardware
- Sand, prep, and assist with finishing-related tasks as needed
- Troubleshoot build issues and suggest practical solutions while maintaining design intent
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area
- Assist with loading, delivery prep, and occasional site measurements or service calls as needed
- Work with shop staff, designers, project managers, and installers to keep projects on schedule
Required Qualifications
To be considered, candidates should have:
· Proven experience as a cabinetmaker, bench carpenter, or custom millwork/cabinet shop professional
- Strong knowledge of cabinet construction methods, materials, and woodworking techniques
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, plans, specifications, and cut lists
- Experience using standard woodworking tools and machinery, including:
- Table saw
- Sliding saw / panel saw
- Edgebander
- Router
- Drill press
- Planer / jointer
- Sanders
- Various hand and power tools
- Strong understanding of measurements, tolerances, layout, and assembly
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality finished work
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality
- Ability to lift materials and perform physically demanding shop work
- Valid Driver’s License
- Access to a reliable vehicle / car
- Ability to travel reliably to the shop daily and, when needed, to job sites, suppliers, or service calls
Preferred Qualifications
Strong candidates will also have one or more of the following:
- Several years of experience in custom kitchen and bath cabinetry
- Experience in high-end residential millwork
- Familiarity with premium hardware systems and specialty accessories
- Experience with veneer work, laminate work, and detailed finishing prep
- Installation knowledge or previous field experience
- Ability to problem-solve and maintain productivity without sacrificing quality
- Experience working in a fast-paced custom shop with multiple active projects
- Basic familiarity with CNC-produced parts and modern cabinet shop workflows
- A strong eye for detail, proportion, symmetry, and finish quality
